Before you proceed with the new engine idea, just make sure your tranny is up to par as well. One of the reasons I let mine go after the engine blew, was that earlier I found metal shavings (some were big) on the tranny pan while doing a tranny fluid flush!
on top of that add the:
Radiator supports rusted out
Water leaking from rear windows
Water leaking from pass door post
Clear coat peeling and faded paint
Shot front suspension
and the Cats were removed.
On top of that there were many other misellaneous things that needed attention.
So in my case it was too costly to fix.
