I have looked at VIN info but didn't see any info on tow page, extra cooler, etc
I can see an extra cooling radiator in front of normal rad? It does have both 4 and 7 pin connector. However there is no brake controller and I don't see any Tow/Haul button or selector?
Can anyone help me out? Not sure why it's so difficult to find a tow capacity rating. It's pretty important I think.
Even the VIN info for GCWR and Tongue wt has 2 or 3 different numbers listed?

GCWR from VIN is stated 12100-15000 max (avg of 13550) So subtract from GVWR (7500) it's about 6100lbs. Is that it?

The 7-pin connector alone usually means you have the HD tow package.

About the extra cooler you see behind the grille, count the rows on it. Non-HD tow Expeditions have 5-row coolers, HD tow-equipped cars have a 7-row cooler. The 9-row F-150 Raptor transmission coolers are a direct swap, if you run out of cooling capacity with the stock cooler for whatever reason.

HD tow-equipped cars also have 3.73 gears. If you have a standard wheelbase, check your axle code on the door sticker. It’s located near the bottom of the sticker under the region code (RC) below the middle of the barcode. Unsurprisingly, it’s labeled “AXLE”. Look for a 16 under it, which is the code for the “3.73 conventional”, or “open” differential.
(Note - 3.73s are standard on all ELs, so this won’t be useful on a LWB.)

The tow/haul button should be a small, round, chrome button on the side of the shift lever facing the driver’s seat. It’ll say “T/H” on it. Earlier shifters have the same design, but the 07-08 6R75-equipped cars will simply say “O/D” for overdrive lockout, as the older transmissions don’t have a tow/haul function like the 09-17 6R80s.

Lastly, regarding the trailer brake controller, that was probably an optional feature from the dealership/factory, but Expeditions didn’t get those standard until 2013/2014 on the higher trim cars that already have HD tow as a standard option already (Limited and King Ranch, like GlennSullivan mentioned).

Hopefully this information is useful!

The best way to determine this is to have any ford dealer run the VIN and it will show the options. Since this is an Eddie Bauer, if HD tow is equipped, it will def have to be listed as an option.

An alternative would be to go to this site and pay a small fee. They will provide you with an exact copy of the original window sticker. Have used them a number of times. https://monroneylabels.com/

3:73 gear us NOT a reliable way to determine HD Tow as both of my Limited's (2011 and 2017) have HD tow and have 3:31 gear.

The Integrated TBC only became STD with HD Tow sometime after 2012 as my 2011 limited with HD Tow does not have it.

Appreciate that reply! With all the info out there to confuse us it's amazing that a call to Ford is still the only real way to solve this!

Thank you. My VIN info says 3.31 min and 3.73 max.... Again, not helpful. I'm ts simply amazing to me that this is not straightforward, easy to find info. I guess I'll have to pay a fee and get the original window sticker if a call to Ford today won't solve this riddle. I want to be sure and it seems every bit of new info I get just confuses the issue.

I just found the 2009 Trailer Towing guide (all vehicles were in the same document) and these snapshots may be of some help. BTW you were correct about GCWR, it is different for Expys equipped with HD Tow as shown below. The option for HD tow on those not standard is 536 which is detailed in the second snapshot.

You don't see a button on the side of the gear selector for two haul?

That is awesome. It leaves me a little more confused to be honest. I did pay to get the original window sticker and was very disappointed because it doesn't list any info on towing

If it does not list the optional 536 HD trailer towing package, then the vehicle you are looking at does not have HD Tow.

Do you already own this vehicle, or is it such a fantastic deal that you can't pass on it and look for a 2009 or newer Expy Limited, which you know will absolutely come with the HD Tow package?

Can you post the Window Sticker for others to evaluate?

Yes, I was hopeful that current owner was right ... He was adamant that it had one. However, I think most evidence points to it not having. Interior is so mint and all the luxury features were amazing for vehicle so old. Everything I could want...Ah well!
