I have a 2000 5.4 xlt 2wd. It has the 4 flat tow harness. I am trying to install a 7 wire plug with a brake controller and I have a couple questions.

1. All the digging I have done leads me to believe there should be a connector for the brake controller next to the diagnostic port under the drivers side dash next to the center console so I don’t have wire it myself.

I cannot find it for the life of me, some other sites mention it being tucked behind the center console, another one here mention it being under the carpet. All that is next to the diagnostic port are some random relays, anyone know what those relays are for?

can anyone provide hints to know if I should be expecting the brake controller plug and it’s just hiding, or it isn’t actually there for some models. The under dash harnethat is supposed to work is tekonsha 3035-p

2. the rear light with the 4 flat has a Squarish plug that matches an adapter that works for the 4 way and 7 way pluggs, although it says it’s not compatible with the expedition. I have found mixed results online as to whether this harness will work even though the site selling the plug says it doesn’t work, and a post saying the plug is correct but the wires are in the wrong place.
