Hi--new member here and first post. I have a Platinum Max on order and am trying to find out if Ford's trailer tire pressure monitoring kit is available/compatible with the 2018 Expedition. Ford has a kit that is available for the Super Duty trucks in two formats: one is with a trailer-mounted rear camera and the TPMS, and one is with the TPMS only. The part number for the TPMS kit is HC3Z-1A189-C. The Ford parts sites lists compatible vehicles as the Super Duty trucks. But the Expy owners manual (pp 118 and 134) shows entries related to a trailer TPMS in the trailer information display sections, suggesting that the kit is available for the Expy. On the Super Duty the necessary wiring harness is tucked above the spare tire and is used to make the connection to the trailer TPMS. Does anyone here know for sure whether or not the Expy has that harness and if the kit is compatible?

Forget the tire pressure, I want to know the wheel bearing temperatures. To be honest, I keep scratching my head as to why Ford (and/or Chevy) hasn't gotten with the trailer manufacturers to standardize a CAN bus interface between truck and trailer.

I am resurrecting this thread now that these vehicles have been out in the wild a while. Does anyone that intends to use the Expy for towing a trailer know personally if there is a trailer camera and/or trailer tire pressure monitoring kit for the Expy? This feature is available on the Super Duty pickup trucks and the parts listing shows HC3Z-1A189-C as the truck-compatible kit. But the Expy is not shown as a compatible vehicle for the kit. Page 134 of the second printing of the owner's manual describes the system; however, this section of the manual might be copied from the truck manual. As I stated in my original post, the necessary wiring harness is included on the trucks; the kit comes with a modified trailer wiring receptacle that replaces the stock one for the TPMS/camera kit to plug into. I understand that one just takes the harness out from behind the spare tire and connects it to the new wiring receptacle (replacing the stock harness/receptacle), install the trailer sensors and you're good to go. Still haven't been able to get a definitive from the dealer or anyone else.

To be honest, I use a valve stem TPMS for my two camping trailers and am very happy with it.

It has saved me three times now and I figure it has paid for itself.

The nice thing about the integrated trailer TPMS system is that it displays on the Sync3 screen, and it will catch a leak on the trailer while driving. We use an aftermarket TPMS system for the trailer now on our '08 Expy, but it requires an extra monitor. We'd love to have the integration that the truck system offers. If no one knows the answer, I may just have to wait until our '18 gets here and search to see if the necessary harness is there.

If I get a chance, I’ll see if I can find anything that looks promising...

Coincidentally I asked my dealer when I picked up my 2018 XLT for information on the trailer TPMS and the trailer backup camera.

He got back to me today and said the TPMS kit is only for the Super Duty. He's still looking for options for the backup camera (that would be mounted to the back of the trailer and displayed on the Sync3 screen).

Bumping this again to see if anyone has new info. To shane_th_ee and Meeker: have either of you made any progress on the issue? I'm going to push my dealer to push harder at Ford to get a straight answer, but maybe someone on the forum has some first-hand knowledge as to whether or not the trailer TPMS actually is available with the 2018 Expy, and also what it takes to get it working? Info about setup is in the owners manual, but so far no one here has confirmed that it can be done.

My dealer got back to me, but I have no confidence that they actually know what the real answer is. They did say that the TPMS is not available for the Expy ("because it only says it's available for the Super Duty"). And he had nothing on the rear camera - I get the impression he's just looking at their online parts order form, so I'm not going to give up yet...
Does anyone know someone with a Super Duty who has both of these contraptions? If there's a physical connector or module we could look for we could figure this out once and for all...

Hello, I am a new member. Have ordered a 2021 Expy Limited 4wd, with the Heavy duty trailer package. Trying to find TPMS senors that will work with the sync 3 system?
Has anyone found compatible sensors. Dealer has not been helpful.

Thanks, thought by seeing this video () it would work with sync 3 and getting the right TPMS monitors, no mention of the 12 pin connector

Here's a link to the trailer tpms and camera kit. Looking at the included parts, and using simple logic, you would need to mount a receiver near the trailer axles to pick up the tpms signals. TPMS signals are weak. And that receiver would need to be wired back into your Expys CANBus.

I think it's more than just buying tpms sensors.

Thanks. I have seen this TPMS camera link, how ever it shows to be for Ford Super Duty pickup application only as far as I can determine. My VIN # won't populate yet as it is being built now, so it doesn't allow me to verify proper application to my vehicle. Otherwise it reverts not showing the Expedition for the application of this part (trailer rear camera and TPMS package:

But the video you shared repeatedly shows a Super Duty pulling a trailer. Not an Expedition.

Just fyi lots of great trailer systems now that monitor tire pressure and give you leveling info. I’d rather go that route than forcing some patch work setup on the Tow vehicle system.
