I have a 98 expedition XLT 4x4, with 82,000 on it. I have not had any leaks that I know of, but last weekend I went trail riding and it turned into swamp riding. I went through pretty deep pit filled with water but never did I get stuck or get over the doors with water.

Long story shot I now have a very slow leak with of tranny fluid coming out of the black rubber plug of the tranny. I pushed it open and took a light to inside and could not see a build up of fluid anywhere and my dopstick is still showing plenty of fluid.

Did I just get some water inside the outer housing and this is nothing or should I be worried.

Here is a pick of where the leak is.

I would just keep an eye on it ( check fluid levels) it maybe that water washed some spilled old fluid and now it shows up. If your trans fluid looks fine ( no white ) and level is ok, then I think you are fine.
