Just had rear differential rebuilt. Mechanic said I have tight turning and scraping due to clutches in the transfer case stuck together. It's a 2001 AWD xlt model. When I turn it feels like it is in 4wd. Is the mechanic right?

i have the same year except EB edition. Does it feel like a little bit of a shudder as you turn left or right? could be you need more friction modifier in the rear diff.
