My 202 has, or had, the typical banging on the downshift in certain gears. I have been trying to find a time to get it to Ford, but before that my tires needed to be replaced. I went up a little in height with the new tires. Now I don't think the transmission has the slam/bang in the downshift anymore, or it is significantly less. I am going to be paying attention a lot more in the next 2 weeks... but does this make sense? I know it changes the speed and such a little. The MPH is off by 1-2... so there is a minor difference.

Am I crazy? SHoudl I still take it to Ford... If I cannot reproduce the issue, they wont fix it. Plus heck they might blame the issue on non-factory tires anyway. But there are smarter people here than the Ford Service Mangaers... which should not be the case.. but seems so.

I had an issue with my new 23 for a little while. I reset the Transmission Learning curve and it fixed it. I forgot how I did it, I have Forscan and I think I used that but there are manual ways to do this with brake pedal and key on and off, etc. Once i did this my transmission was great again.

My 2020 has 84,000 miles, 25,000 of which pulling a 6,500lb camper trailer around the US. My wife had to pull a trailer from TN to GA for a total of about 250 miles, and did not use tow haul mode. The transmission started acting up back in June where 5th gear would slam into gear. After the short haul from TN, 8th gear would slip and slam into gear after gaining nearly 1,000 rpm just before the shift. So, 5th and 8th. I called 4 dealers in the north Georgia area and was told by all of them, drop it off, and we'll look at it within the next couple weeks. Its my only car. All of them said if it needed transmission work, they couldn't get to it until Jan 2025. So, I bought FORscan, erased/deleted the adaptive learning tables, and now it shifts as if it were a brand new trans. It's been a week so far, and simply amazing.

It's been a week of paying attention. The issues have definitely decreased, but it still does clunk from time to time. It's not as bad as previously, but I am going to tow our camper here in a few weeks, so that will be the real test. It is a heavy camper and I have to use Tow Mode, so I guess wait until then to see the outcome. I will look into the FORscan tool as well.

I had my ‘20 Limited in for oil change and a couple of squawks, one was the transmission. My trans would often slam into gear when shifting from P to D and shift hard from gears 2-5. Dealership worked with Ford, cleared adaptive tables - no fix, then they removed main control valve body and found SSR and SSF solenoid valves stuck in bores. Installed new main control body, new filter, and fluid but still no fix. In the end I now have a new transmission courtesy of my Ford powertrain warranty I’m 2nd Owner and the vehicle has 51,475 miles. I’ve had it back a few days and it’s working great!!
