Transmission issue

1999 XLT, 153k miles 4wd. When accelerating over 2-3krpms transmission will stay out of gear for a few seconds and then lock in. The harder you accelerate the long it stays out of before kicking in. Any thoughts?

chek ur fluid and make sure its full.... then possibly a fluid and filter change/ flush.....
