Transmission swap

Hello everyone, I need help with an issue before I can move on. The transmission on my 1997 Expedition Eddie Bauer 4x4 just died. It only works on reverse. My question is...can I swap the transmission with one from a 4x2 from the same year and still make it 4x4?

listen....if truck is worth it.truly. go get a new or rebuilt transmission with warrenty. trans problems kept going.
