Wow! Do you have a deductible on your extended warranty? Or is this still factory warranty?

Factory warranty 60,000 mile power train

@cmiles97 48k

Showed a service manager and he said “yup, that’s coolant, bring it in”. They also have a lot of these come in for same thing both expeditions and f150s. Shocking...

Ford may not love you for bringing it in, but how do you feel about the poor quality and reliability?

I have a 2015 Expedition Limited 4x4, purchased new.

56,000 on mine, it's good so far but I expect that. I like to hear about possible issues and how the customer is treated. I wouldn't mind an occasional reliability issue if the manufacturer does the right thing and fixes it (correctly and permanently) for free.

It's when they deny it and cause the owner inconvenience or worse charge them for it that makes you second guess the large amount of money we pay for a vehicle.

Certain things irritate me for sure. This coolant leak has been an issue since the ecoboost inception in the f150s back in 2011. The fact that they haven’t fixed it in 8 years really ****** me off. However this dealership is always willing to work with me and I’ve rarely ever had issues with them not covering something

Just like the Aluminum Panel Paint issues, and others I'm sure. Guess it cost them less to 'fix' a few for posterity sake, and deny the issue, than fix the problem area and provide a better product to their customers (not that Ford is alone in this practice, but it ****** me off none-the-less)..

16Plati, that does seem like a fair number of rather 'large' issues in so little mileage..

Glad you got it under warranty. Muddybean had some issues too with turbo coolant lines. I've got 68K and it just runs. No issues yet...

Yeah I remember reading about his. Now I will say I haven’t gotten under there in a long time to check so idk how long it’s been leaking. It must be very slow though because I only see it around the housing area. Not on the driveway or anything. Ran it the other night and got it up to temp so the thermostat activated and saw no visible leaks. I’ll let ford handle this one I think

Maybe your '93 perf tune', has something to do with this issue. Too much cylinder pressure, can blow the head gaskets.

I would bet it has nothing to do with his tune. This is a coolant line on the turbo, a part that has been known to fail in the past.

Not my truck. And it’s a coolant tube. Nothing to do with a gasket.

I thought the turbos are cooled with oil, not coolant. They get so hot, the water/coolant would vaporize. I bet something else is going on. That turbo is probably compromised and will fail next.

And if you knew how a turbo worked, you would know they use both.
Do you know that as a fact? Please explain. They get to 1100 degrees, coolant 'boils over' around 240.

This ******* match is getting ridiculous..

Your statement is kind of like assuming water cooling an internal combustion engine runs coolant through the combustion chamber, which would quickly evaporate it..

The Turbo bearings run in oil, like the pistons use oil for lubrication and cooling, and the turbo's housing has coolant passages, like the engine block does..
