Hello all,
I drive a 2015 Ford Expedition XL EL with 160k miles on it. About a month ago I noticed a slight shudder when the vehicle was idling, so I decided to replace the spark plugs. I replaced with NGK Iridium IX plugs, all 6 of course, and since then I seem to have developed a sputter from my turbo when accelerating. When I really give it gas, the turbo will sputter, obviously affecting my acceleration, and twice I have had the turbos cut out entirely with the check engine light coming on and flashing for about a mile down the road, before the CE light shuts off and the turbos engage again.
Unfortunately, after taking it into my mechanic, the CE light has not been on, nor has the computer stored and fault codes, not allowing the mechanics to know what's be at fault. I have not had the CE light come on at all except those two times when accelerating. I've ran injector cleaner through it and will be cleaning the MAF sensor tomorrow, hoping maybe that will work. I just bought a set of Motocraft plugs to throw in it, see if maybe OEM will fix it, and while I know the coil packs could also be an issue, no CE light has shown long enough to tell.
Any other ideas what might be causing said issue? I'm trying the small things first myself, before dropping off at mechanic to look at the bigger issues.
