I had to jump my wife’s car this morning, and ever since, my left turn signal indicator blinks rapidly on the dash, however, all three turn signals (front, side mirror, rear) all blink at the normal rate. It’s just the sound and the visual indicator on the dash that is blinking rapidly. 2019 Expedition Limited so all LED lighting and I bought the vehicle in April of this year. Would just take it to the dealership but my car was there for 2.5 weeks and just got it out, so hoping to figure this one out on my own. Thanks in advance for any help.

I'd recommend hooking it up to a trickle charger and see if it resolves. Low battery voltage can cause strange issues.

Second that, excellent point!

I would take it a step further and have the battery tested.
If its 4 or more years old, consider a new battery

Did you leave something on to have to jump it? Once its charged back up and starting fine, disconnect the battery for 15 min. Reconnect and try again.

If you have a 2019 Expedition - I’d suspect you have a defective battery, which is causing the malfunctioning turn signal.

Why was the vehicle at the dealer for 2 1/2 weeks? It sounds as though they let the battery discharge, which can damage it.

I would return the vehicle to the dealer for evaluation and repair under the warranty (unless it is expired already....).

All,

Thank you very much for the recommendations...the problem fixed itself after about 3 days...

I now have a new issue, the car wants to put the nav display, dash and ambient lighting in night mode (yes the interior lighting is in Auto (Day/Night) mode), as it thinks it's dark outside, when there's not a cloud in the sky in the middle of the day...starting to wonder if it is related to the battery as a few of you have mentioned.

Would simply jumping someone else's car cause issues with my battery? If it helps, she took it to NTB after I jumped it where they told her she had a bad battery...

I will monitor it for the next few days and report back. Also, FYI my Expy is brand new, purchased 6 months ago, still under warranty, and I was jumping my wife's car, not my own, before this issue began.

Thanks,
Riggs

Would try disconnecting your own battery overnight to reset everything in your 2019 Expy and see if that solves the new issue.

It is possible depending on where you connected on the Expy's battery. To jump another vehicle, both connections must be made on the battery posts and not the L brackets. Connecting to the positive L bracket can damage fuses(as per owners manual) and connecting to the negative L bracket can affect the battery monitor system. When jumping the Expy itself then the positive connection must still be made to the battery post and the negative to a solid connection on the engine.

Is this something new … starting in <TBD?> year. I've never done this and it's not in the Owners Manual for my 2014. I'm also not sure what an L bracket is, so that tells you what I know (limited). If the L bracket is the big terminal that connects to the battery post then I get that. Prettty hard to connect to battery post without clamping onto that???

I'm confused. Nothing new. Thankx

It has to do with the 2018's and later since they incorporated the auto start/stop and the battery monitoring system. You can see the L bracket on the negative post along with the battery monitoring connector and the stud with the main cable connection. You do not want to connect to that stud when jumping another vehicle, connect to the battery post instead.
