my 2006 XLT is running strong, 180K and still trucking, but I cant help but feel it may be time to get something fresher...

Two kids at home now, oldest is 2.5 years old, and we dont need more room, but be do find that with the third row up, the storage space behind the third row is seriously lacking. A big problem currently with the baby stroller but in a year or so, the stroller will be gone. The third row in my '06 is NOT for adults. Father-in-law crammed his way back there two days ago and is still sore.

Would the third row in the EL models be more useable? Would the newer Expeditions be as reliable as my current vehicle? Should I cross over to the GM side of things and look at a Suburban?

Thoughts, criticisms, comments, all welcome.

You think the third row of your 06 is cramped? The current gen has about one full inch more leg room and is actually pretty comfortable, but its not much more roomy, ford just changed tbe angle of the seat to give riders more thigh support. However, you will not find a better third row seat an any other suv period, even compared to your 2nd gen expy. regular length expys and els have the same seating packaging so passenger space is exactly the same. The gm would be your last choice when it comes to third row comfort and space. The new suburbans/yukons have more third row room and space behind than tahoes, but they have really high cargo floors so cargo room is compromised. Neither has more room than the expy or a sequoia for that matter. If you need room in the third row and behind it, only vehicle better than an expy el is pretty much a minivan.
