used expedition 1997(Eddie Bauer)

This probably have been asked many a times here but I have been asked if I am interested in exchanging my Chevrolet Venture 2002 with 112,000km to an Expedition 1997(Eddie Bauer) with over 200,000 km. Is it worth to do this exchange?

Really appreciate your opinions on this.

Yes, it is definitely worth getting an expedition over your van. The eddie bauer is going to have a lot more power then your van, it looks much better than a van, and is going to be more versatile. What is your price range? I would try to get one with less miles on it, even though a well mainted 5.4 should go many more, any engine with that many miles is going to be more likely to have something wrong, especially if you're not the original owner and don't know how it was treated.

The price was around 6500. The next available ones are about 4000 more and are the 1999s. My problem is that the other dealers are willing to give a lot less for my Van and the price of the Expedition is much higher too.

Is there a reason you can't sell the van yourself? You might get a grand or 2 more than what the dealer will give you for trade in value, and that extra money will help to buy an Expedition with lower miles

Yes its a bit difficult as I have finance on the van and needs to pay a lot if I have to sell it myself.

What about getting a lower mileage XLT instead of an eddie bauer?

I just couldnt find any expedition where I live in Canada. Whats the difference between the two?

Depending on the year, the eddie bauer comes standard with the 5.4L V8 while you can get the older XLT's with the 4.6L which cost less. Also the Eddie bauer has different trim and a few extra things inside like overhead console and stuff.
Basically XLT is the base model and Eddie Bauer comes with all the bells and whistles.

For the older models that you're looking at, XLT and Eddie Bauer or the only versions. For the brand new ones they have redone the naming.

The kelly blue book value for a 97 XLT with the 4.6L and only 100,000 miles is only $5,500. I don't know if you pay more than blue book up there in Canada because of your location, but it looks like you should be able to find a lower mileage one in your price range.

Now have found a 1999 eddie bauer and having a look at it tomorrow. Anything in particular that I should be extra careful about? I have heard of engine coils having a lot of problems with the expedition?
