I am wanting to get a viper 5904 remote start on my truck cause I'm in Colorado and work in the mountains and it gets cold. I'm just wondering how hard it would be to install it myself I am very good with electronics but haven't done a remote start before. I just don't want to pay someone 300 or more extra to install it if I can do it myself.

you will need the PATS bypass and its going to be at least an 3-hr job and that was with a certified Viper installer...good luck

I was figuring it would take a few hours to get the wires done properly. I was just making sure there wasn't some kind of special tools needed.

You definitely want to get a printout of the wiring diagram. Wherever you buy your alarm/remote start, ask if they can give you the printout. I know that the Viper Dealers get theirs from DEI.
