I owned a '99 for 13 years and just bought an 03 Expy EB 4WD but in shopping for the past two months, I learned a couple of things that might help the new-to-Expedition buyer. 1. Not all EB's are 4 WD!! Nope, I didn't know that. I knew that the Eddie Bauer models were the top of the line models and WRONGLY assumed they all had 4 wheel drive....not so! 2. Not all EB's come with the tried and true 5.4 engine so if you want that engine, make sure it has it!
IMO, this truck is nearly worthless TO ME without the 4WD so since I knew I was going to buy a higher mileage truck, I held out till I found one in good condition (no tears in the drivers seat!), that hadn't been abused and ran well.
My son and I took our '99 out during the 2' snowstorm we had 15 yrs ago and he got a chance to throw 4 big rooster tails from the wheels up at the middle school lot......he was 8 or 9 years old at the time. He took the 03 out last night and we both talked about the last time he had driven one...in that snowstorm. Time for some more snow to make some more good memories!!
I just thought these things might help a new buyer not get fooled because the dealer sure won't tell you!!
