weird clicking noise

so this just started about 2 days ago an this is very weird for a few reasons. number one i only hear this sound at night its a loud click sounds like its fro either the tires brakes or suspension. problem is cant see anything wrong. i only hear it for a few seconds after i go over a speed bump while useing my brakes and then after i let off the brake it gose away in a few seconds. someone please help me with this. the truck runs and performs fine.... I just hate that damn click sound. i hopeing its my breaks cause i need new ones anyways

Check the CV joints on the front axel.

Clicking is what CV joints do, and thumbing is what U joints do.

no rock in the tire as mentioned i checked for that imediately. if it was the cv joints wouldnt it be constant though/ this sound is not constant it only happens for like 5 to 10 seconds then it stops.

when you do hear the clicking, does it get faster/slower with speed of truck?

it dosent change. again there are no rocks stuck in my tires and its not constantly their. I checked my cv shafts and their fine. so my guess is breaks or shocks. the truck has all its power so it dosent seem like its a major issue or anything wrong. i just get annoyed by the sound

Red, take a look at your e-brake pads (have to remove the rotor to get to them). You may find that there is something loose in there and by applying the normal brakes, things are moving just enough to make the clicking come in. After that, since you know you need brakes, do those and see if the noise changes.

thank you thermo. Im going to check that either today or tomorrow. im going to get either some ebc or wagner brake pads to replace the ac delco crap (dont ask me why someone used ac delco parts on a ford)

U joints?

U joints, check them front and rear.
I had a clicking in my 89 toyota and it would go away if u coated the joints in PB blaster (for like a day) or axle grease (which also gets slung out real quick)
so naturally like any 16 year old I ignored it until it turned into a sort of death shake (like the wheels were gonna come off) and the U joints had so much play in them that It was apparently very dangerous to drive with it like that , $200 fixed

okay how do you check the u joints the sound is happening more now but it gose away after about 30 seconds and now it changes with the trucks speed (again there is no rock in my tire i know better than this lol) my dad says maybe the breaks need to be redone so im ordering those possibly tommrrow. if that dont solve it then i may do the u joints.

check your u joints by pushing up on the driveshaft if theres any play in it that may be your problem. if there isnt any play take a grease gun and lube em up and see if that helps. if it does you have found your problem

found the problem. I did my brakes yesterday and when i took off the rear rotors the e brakes FELL OFF. yes they fell right off the assembly so thats what was causing the sound. changed the emergency brakes had the rotors cut bought new rotors for the front and replaced a front brake caliper. pretty damn expensive for all the parts but it was worth it truck rides smoother and stops a hell of alot better now

I did my brakes i think it was last summer, and i used the Duralast Gold Cmax pads and the Duralast Gold (i hate the cheap china steel!) rotors and i have about 10x the stopping power over stock.

I had the tire off last weekend changing the EGR tube, checked the brakes because most of my driving is in-town and they still look new. they have about 12-15 thousand miles on them.

The easiest way i know to check u joints is to crawl under the truck with a pry bar and pry all directions at the joints if there is any play then they are bad.

yea i checked my u joints they are fine. i used wagner thermo quiet brake pads and rotors and there pretty good so far
