Well, our 09 is getting up there in millage and I have put a bunch of new parts on it and it drives great, but I wanted to get the wife into someone a little newer with more creature comforts. Most importantly, its WHITE thank goodness!!!!! Makes a big difference in AZ with the 110 degree weather and death ray of a sun. . .

We weren't looking to get a new car today but there was a good deal on a 100k mile 2017 Expy EL. went and looked at it and it checked all the right boxes, fancy but not too fancy. Heated and vented seats, power steering wheel movement, power pedals, power hatch and 3rd row.

I have the same, Limited XL, and in my opinion the best looking model ever! I had an '07 and now a '17 70K miles and the only problem was replacing the battery, period. My daughter has a 4th generation '18 and has nothing but problems, which I don't understand. Same frame, same engine, WTF...?
Good choice!!!

Ya we were going to look at an 18 Max but they were still detailing it and we were not able to. I agree with the looks, the 3rd gen still looks more like a truck, definitely prefer this over the the gen4

Naaaa... 2018 up has a Gen 2 3.5, more issues than a Gen 1, and the 10 speed in the 18-22's prone to CDF drum failure.

Interesting, sounds like we might have dodged a bullet then maybe. Didn't realize there were 10 speed issues.

From what I read its a late model Gen1 3.5 which should have the new phasers and should be pretty bulletproof, and it still has the 6R80 which it pretty reliable, our truck has 240k on it and its still going really good.

The funny thing is I purchased a Dorman trans pan with drain plug for my 09, well I ordered the wrong one, and that wrong one just happens to fit this new truck.

Nice! I just sold the ‘10 Eddie Bauer EL and found a ‘17 Limited EL, same color, interior, & equipment plus the additional options that are available with the newer model. I had done the full timing job on the ‘10 last fall & new tires etc, I was planning to keep it but got the vibe this spring that it was time. Picked up the ‘17 in South Dakota, and sold the ‘10 to my neighbor’s friend (he loves it). Many opine that the ‘17 is the “sweet spot” for the gen 3 power train: Ecoboost issues were sorted, reliable 6R80, and I prefer the looks. Love the truck, and the Ecoboost is better than the 5.4 IMHO, it just GOES.
