Hey Yall,

Stopped at Auto Zone today to replace both my headlights and backup lights. Had no problem removing the tail lights (torque and it was done) but wouldn't figure out how to get the headlights out. I removed the two bolts (see pics) but they still didn't want to budge. What am I missing? is there a third bolt somewhere or a clip or something? We looked but couldn't see anything. Thanks for any help folks cheers!!

On my 2000 there are just 2 black clips on either side of the lamp to pull up and they pop right out. Not sure if yours are the same.

I have not replaced the ones on my X yet, but there should just be a twist style lock, made out of plastic in the center of the headlight, not sure if you need to pull the plastic piece under the hood off or not to gain access, don't touch the headlight bulb with your hand when installing, the oils on your hand will damage the halogen bulb, use a tissue or napkin with no lotion on it, i.e. no puffs plus.

mine is an 04. As you can see from the pics there are two bolts holding the housing - can't see anything else but there has to be something as it wasn't just sticky, it was still locked in somewhere...

There was a "cap" in the rear center which I guess keeps out the moisture. We removed that but it didn't have any effect on the housing not coming loose.

Went back to Autozone, popped them of with ease and replaced those crappy bulbs with two nice sets of Xenons. Cheers again Toms!!

there is a long bolt/screw on the back down behind the headlight and has a flange washer to hold against the frame...i guess to be more secure...if you still cant get it out...its catching on the inside next to the grille...just use a screw driver or your hand/fingers to pry/pull on piece for it to come out...go ahead and put HIDs in there...i will nvr run halogens again in any vehicle...

Bleh, I hate the rear adjustment screw. Pretty much useless. If you want to adjust your headlights, use the long, horizontal screw sticking out of the back of the headlight. It just moves the reflector bowl assembly, while leaving the actual headlights in their place.
