What did you do to the expy today

Yesterday i shined mine up like a new penny and ran to the parts store and got some rattle cans to paint the bumpers and side panels. I was going to get some new profile and sig pics but figured i paint first.

Washed it the winter road grime/salt/cr@p off it

and now that I can lean over the fender without getting overly muddy I am going to see if I can't resolve the durned annoying P0171/4 with a new PCV and intake tube...

I took it out for a long test drive today since it has been parked for awhile because I was busy installing the following new parts.

Fuel Pump
Fuel Filter
Fuel Relay
New alternator
Set of 8 matched Bosch Fuel injectors
Set of 8 Ignition coils
Set of 8 Autolite 103 plantinum plugs
New KN Air Filter
5w20 oil change
Coolant outlet on intake
Driver side Fog lamp assembly.

171,000 miles and she runs like new now.

That is one clean 1st gen. With the Ohio weather and salt on the roads they are few and far between up here. Beautiful truck!

Lol sorry I was referring to the white 1st gen a couple posts before yours but yours is friggin gorgeous! I really want to lift mine but we have my wife's grandmother with us all the time and she's 4'11" and I gotta help her in & out with my truck at stock height with side steps lol. Trying to solve that problem this week by buying a mini van tho so maybe that'll change soon.

Replaced the bloody nightmare PCV line.

Two nasty skinned knuckles and a sore back from reaching and contorting, but it's on there.

Went for a couple of blasts following that, and no codes yet. Before the change it would throw a P0171/4 each and everytime I drove it.


Oh, and finished cleaning up the intake, looks much better now...

Nice! We went there a couple of years back. I had my Excursion then. I actually worried that I'd sink to the axles but didn't. Had so much fun cruising the beach and back in the neighborhoods. I even let my (then 12 year old) son dirve. He had a blast too.

Not a expy but a Navi.

Lets See friday i had a new Windshield put in (2nd one in a year), set up appointment to tint windows, ordee Adapters to put my 22s on. Then bout 3 hrs later hit a deer. Lol yea sucked. Didnt do much damage. Broke bumper but was able to epoxy it back together, broke passenger fog light, and pushed bumper support back couple inches which i pulled out yesterday.

Intake looks good, I wish I would've sprung for the polished intake when I bought my cai instead of the drab black intake but it gets the job done.

I feel your pain on the sore back, when I installed my intake the directions said 3-5 hours install time & I thought they were on crack but it took my every bit of 3 hours, bent over the truck 2\3 of the time. I couldn't stand up straight for about an hour lol.

I agree, it does look sooooo much cleaner than that convoluted mess that is the original.

The install was actually dead simple, not much more than an hour all told. Toughest part was that bloody IAT sensor. The supplied grommet was extremely tight and I kept ending up pushing the grommet through the tube without getting the sensor past the retention 'ring'. But some patience, along with a healthy application of KY (don't ask... ) eventually won out.


Now, the air box part of the build I expect will take me considerably longer as that is going to be completely custom and handmade. I tend to be pretty handy with Fibreglass, so that's what it's going to be. If I feel particularly rich that week, I may even finish it with a layer of carbon cloth to give it that hightech CF look...

Small changes but I replaced all interior and running board lights from the factory white to green leds...really pops at night. Loving the look!!
