Broke down and ordered a set of 8 Accel coil packs from Summit. Necessary evil I suppose with cold weather right around the corner. Finally will get around to putting those along with plugs in next weekend...

I missed having my fall apart Expy today (well that's every day), but my buddy got a job and he told me he wants my Chevy Impala so when he get stable he will try and take over the payments and then I might be one step closer to getting me another Expy again :)

How do you do a burn out on an AWD truck o_O is yours not awd?

These are A4wd vs AWD. Automatic 4wd vs All wheel drive.

"All wheel drive" is usually used to describe fulltime 4wd vehicles which are more suitable for street duty. There is a differential of some sort between the front and rear axles. Generally they do not have a 4 low selection.

"Automatic 4wd" is what some may consider part time 4wd. It engages 4wd "on demand" when wheel slip is detected. You cannot lock it in 4wd on the street, well you could but not advisable as there is no differential between the front and rear axles. It would end up binding up the drivetrain as you negotiate turns. If you leave it in A4wd the PCM will determine clutch duty cycle so as for this not to happen. Generally A4wd vehicles have a 4 low function as well and are more suited for off road.

I realize these two terms seem to be used interchangeably today but I feel there is a fundamental difference on how they operate. At least from my point of view... :)

That brings me to my point. 97 & 98 expeditions actually have a 2wd selection. They did away with the 2wd selection in later 1st gens but since it is not full time 4wd it is easy to disable the 4wd function by pulling fuse 104 or via the "brown wire mod"

Since Superexpy's expedition is lowered I would guess it is 2wd though...

Had my rear driveshaft re-balanced because I was getting a high speed vibration and plan to visit the track this weekend.

Went to the machine shop and inquired about cost and availability. He told me he had time in the next few days as it would not take long. So I told him I could go home, about 40 minutes away and bring him back the driveshaft today. He said he could let me borrow a 12mm 12 point socket if I wanted to pull it right there it the parking lot.

LOL... OK.

So I pulled it there. Had it balanced, it was indeed out, and re-installed.

Hopefully she is nice and smooth as I cross the finish line now.

97 - 98 Expys have 2WD 4HI 4LOW and allwheel drive. My tires were bad anyways so I just made them a little worse. The rear of my truck is constantly trying to pass me for some reason and I cant figure out why.

I ordered a new radiator today...ugh. One of the side plastic tank things has cracked.

I think I am having head gasket issues as well which may have been the cause of the radiator failure (due to pressure in the cooling system). I'm still tracking down everything and diagnosing everything.

Before the failure I was noticing the burning coolant sweet smell in the exhaust but have not been able to track down the source of the burning coolant.

Mine is 4WD. I lowered it 11 years ago because I new I would never take it wheeling. It doesnt eat tires, It rides nice and corners well like this too.
I also take it in the sand and snow and it does great. Im glad it has the A4WD option because I have a problem with the ass end always tring to pass me. For some reason it always wants to be first......

Hmmmmm. I wonder why. It wouldn't have anything to do with that lead brick in your right foot and the supercharger under the hood would it? :owned:
