Cruised the Blue Ridge Parkway today

I miss driving down there. We used to drive down at least some piece of it every year during our backpacking vacation. Life took a turn though and we haven't be on vacation for 2.5 years. :/

I did the southern piece to Asheville ... Beautiful crisp day. Stopped a hundred times. Hiked a few times. Took a nap in the back once. Ate lunch. Very few cars this time of year! Buds just coming out on some plants. Still some ice at the 5000 foot elevations. Almost spent the night in one remote parking spot. More Rhododendrons than I knew existed in the world. Its a looooong drive at 30 to 45 mph. You HAVE to do it in chunks. This will be a place that pulls me back whenever I'm near. Headed to Great Smokey in a few minutes after I down some Java.

We've done a ton of hiking between the Asheville area and Grayson Highlands over the years. Grayson Highlands State Park, Roan Mountain, Table Rock/Hawksbill, Unaka Mountain Overlook, Mt Mitchell, Grandfather Mountain, Wiseman's View (Linville Gorge) ... I recommend them all. :)

Driving down the interstate in the Pouring rain when the tire pressure light comes on. Luckily I was near an exit so I pull into a gas station to check the tires and see what psi they were at figured it was because of the sudden cold weather but to my surprise there is no way of finding out what your psi is unless you have a manual gauge or bring it to a tire pump. Unless I am blind and could find it in the trucks information display. Needless to say all 4 tires need 10 psi or more in them.

Nope, can’t be displayed. There is a way to use a wireless OBDII adapter and an app on your phone. Do a search, there is a thread talking about it and how to do it.

My great nephew spent 4 hours on a Kia last night. Wash, microfiber towels, clay bar, multiple spray bottles of godknowswhat, wiping everything down, etc. He seemed to be enjoying himself so great. I toss some dawn in a bucket and use an old t shirt once a month .. 15 minutes. Everybody's happy. My vehicles get me where I need to go safely and look fine.

Sad reality is, Kia's have much nicer paintjobs and some SERIOUS paint shop QC

Things must be different in Californica. The most rusted out failing paint junk looking cars in NYS are Kia's

I think I have to pull the valve covers and do solonoids soon.

It took me 12 hours to do both sides. Most of this time spent trying to disconnect the AC hoses to the rear of the truck. Turns out since I could not get the quick disconnects apart I pulled the engine coolant hose off the right side (passenger) and I was able to get the valve cover off.

Cleaned interior and changed oil. I was getting some manifold ticking on cold starts but since the weather has been warmer it only lasts a few seconds now. In the cold it was like 30 seconds. Sounds smoother as of late which is fine because I’m in no rush to do it!
