What the heck is this?

Just saw this on the liftgate of our expedition. From left to right I see: tag light, no idea what the heck, camera with spray nozzle, glass release button, and tag light. This square looks like it has a reflective surface internally on half but not on the other half. Anyone know about this mystery? I'm sure its really cool and probably makes the expedition do light speed.

Perhaps an IR emitter so the camera can see in the dark when backing up?

Alternatively, do you have the trailer backup assist? It might be the sensor that interacts with the sticker that you place on the trailer tongue to backup the trailer with the knob on the dash.

Oooohhh good call on the trailer back up assist. It does have that. I bet that's what it is.
