Happy Monday!

I have looked for this issue in the forums here but must have missed it. Accosionally when I hook up my iphone with usb cable the "Radio" will not recognize it. I cannot see any reason or cause, nor can I
determine, when it starts working again, why, Any one will any experience with this issue?

Thank you!

Double check that you are using a genuine Apple cable. Then look at the lighting end and see if it looks burnt or dirty. They should all look gold not black. I ruin cables all the time in my truck. I get in with snow or water on my boots then the cable falls onto my mats and shorts them out. Some times turning the lightning 180 will still work as it only fried one side of the cable. So if it’s in the phone one direction it won’t do anything. Switch it 180 and it will work. My current cable in my truck is like this. That’s one idea to check.

Are you running beta iOS software? Mine acts wonky sometimes after a new update.

Also, I have noticed a correlation between the battery with the door locks on passenger doors and my iPhone not connecting.

Last thing. Make sure you have CarPlay set to activate when the phone is locked. That got me the first time I used CarPlay.

Resetting Sync usually resolves it for me. Hold the power button and next track button for 5 or 10 seconds.

Thank you so much for your time. I used to be a nerd then I got old and tech passed me by so I have too ask, resetting Sync? In the vehicle? STUPID question, if it is hooked up with a cable is it still using sync? Sync seems to be a marketing thing cause I have never seen where it added any functionality.

Sync is the name that Ford uses for the software in the center display screen. Yes, it would still go through Sync with the cable connected.

As stated above SYNC is the name given to the Ford OS running the radio and Nav. When you plug in the USB cable and CarPlay comes up, what is happening is SYNC goes into the background and CarPlay comes to the front. Look at the connector on the bottom of your phone and make sure there is not a bunch of lint built up in it. Next change your cable, if your phone still is not seen try this link https://owner.ford.com/support/how-tos/sync/sync/setup/how-to-do-a-sync-master-reset.html

If you carry your phone in your pants pocket. The phone power socket can collect lint. Use a plastic toothpick and a compressed air can to pick/blow out the iphone charge socket. I had increasing issues with all my cords not working till I realized the socket on the phone was packed with lint preventing the plug from going all the way in. Night and day difference/ fix
