Hi

I went to a tire shop for wheel alignment on my 2013 Expedition and the guy just adjusted the toe, he said the Camber and Caster are complicated to adjust and don't need to.

Is it really as he says?
How are camber and caster aligned?

I'm travelling in a day or two, so is it safe to drive?

Will really appreciate your answers

Hi Adam, Welcome to the forum.

It sounds like you had a lazy technician. if the caster and camber are within spec, then they don't need to be adjusted but of they are out then they need to be adjusted or you will have odd tire wear. Did they give you a paper that shows the caster and camber compared to the factory specs?

Toe is pretty much just tossing a wrench on the tie rod and threading it in or out --- ridiculously simple on a lift

Caster and camber are much more of a PITA, that much is true...however anyone who says they cannot be adjusted is pretty much admitting to having the mechanical aptitude of a driveway oil-changer (or being ass lazy)

Thanks for your reply Andy!

Yea I got the paper but don't have it with me at the moment, I'll take picture of it and post it here.

I don't know if the second generation expeditions are like my first edition, but they sell an aftermarket kit that makes the camber adjustable. I installed both sides on mine in about 1 hour. My 2000 had the camber that was off, was why I I stalled mine. Unless you have torsion bars like my year I don't believe caster is adjustable. Unless your vehicle has been in an accident, your caster is probably fine. Most shops are about profit, which is why they set toe, and let it go.

You CAN get it closer to perfect, but you are within spec. Just make sure tires are properly balanced and inflated to correct pressures and you will be good to go.

Hi everyone

I'm back from my trip.

Thank y'all for your replies, really appreciate, don't know what I would have done without you guy

As you guys know although I did wheel alignment on my Expedition before I left the steering wasn't straight on the highway,

What could be the reason?
Should I take my car back to the guy who did the alignment?
Can any parts be worn out?

take it back he did not set the toe correctly most likely to center the steering wheel. sometimes it takes a few tries, when I used to do them I would take them for a long test drive, sometimes I had to bring them back and reset it

What @Big Brian said.

I always tell them that I want them to center the steering wheel. It bugs the crap out of me when the wheel is turned and I'm going straight. Take it back and tell them to center the steering wheel.
