So my service adviser at the local Ford dealership is saying my truck is due for a wheel alignment as part of the recommended service by Ford. Looked at the owner's page on Ford's website and didn't see it anywhere.

Truck is 1 year old with 35K kms (about 22000 miles)

I have not noticed anything up with the handling and tire wear looks normal. I think this is a money grab by the dealership.

You should have received the "Scheduled Maintenance Guide" with your owners' manual. I know wheel alignment is not in the maintenance schedule for the 2008's, so I doubt it's required for yours.

What is required at 22,000 miles is a tire inspection and if the ware indicates the car needs an alignment, it should be checked.

I think the dealer is screwing with you.

Wheel alignment check is always a good idea, but not at the dealer. Take it to a Midas, or Goodyear. They do a racking of vehicle, and a full inspection of front end parts, as well as a printout of measurements. Toe, caster, camber. In most cases all is within specs, but in the event you do need an adjustment, that's when they charge you, usually around $60.00 to $90.00. it's free if you don't need adjustment. Waiting for a tire to show wear on inside or outside, is a dumb, and expensive way of checking alignment. It's proper to check wheel alignment twice a year. It doesn't take much, hitting a pothole, smacking a curb, etc . In San Francisco where I do most of my driving, our roads our horrible. Potholes everywhere, they patch streets instead of repave. I let Midas up the street rack and check every 6 months. Last time I saved the 80 bucks and adjusted the left tie rod myself the next day. My new tires are wearing perfect.
