HI, I searched and found several threads on wheel bearing noise related stuff. My problem is my '99 EB 4x4 has a low whomping noise coming from what seems like the right front area. I jacked it up and turned and shook the wheel. it's tight and when I turn it I can't tell if the noise is coming from the wheel or further up in there. I guess my question is....what is further up in there behind the tire that can cause a low rubbing or whom. whomp, whomp sound? When I drive it the noise is pretty continuous at any speed, what I mean is it doesn't get faster or slower with speed, except when I am going left around a curve, it quiets down. Oh, I guess I should say that the EB has 275k+ miles on it, and I have no idea when or if any bearings have ever been changed.

Could very well be a wheel bearing, turning left shifts the weight. Take it apart and see what you have before it get's worse.

Thanks, yeah, it was the bearings, shot. Not too hard to replace though, except getting to the end of the ABS sensor wire, that took a bit of doing.

You changed both wheel bearings correct? If one is bad, the other one isn’t too far behind.
