I recently noticed that my wipers only work in Park and Neutral. At first, I thought it was the switch, but everything else on the switch works fine. The wipers work fine in all speeds in Park and Neutral but when I switch to Reverse or Drive they dont work or they wont cut off if they are on. I checked the internal fuse box and there doesnt seem to be any signs of water damage from the driver's side windshield leak I have been hearing a lot about with these models.

Expedition is a 2002 XLT 5.4 liter with about 135k mileage.

If anyone knows what this could be please let me know so I can start troubleshooting this issue further.

Harley, check the wiring in the steering column. This is especially true if you like to move the steering wheel up and down a lot. These wires are known for getting damaged if the steering wheel is moved too much, causing strange things to happen to various parts of the truck. Granted, can't say that I have ever heard of the wipers failing this way.

The multifunction switches were an issue back in '99. First two were changed under warranty on mine, then the third one went in when the recall finally came out. Issue was the famous, un-commanded "phantom" pass with the switch off. Sometimes using the turn signal would give a wiper pass or I could get one with a smack on the steering wheel with the heel of my hand.
