Hey all, we live in Longview Wa. We currently have about a foot of snow. Our expy has been amazing in this weather. Snow and ice negotiated easily in either 4 x 4 auto or high. Havent needed low yet. Super happy with our 2011!!! We commute 58 miles to our business and it is back roads and hills with a mountain pass. Pretty sweet!

Hey! I live just down the freeway from you. This snow we're having is pretty awesome! I haven't ventured out yet but am dying to take the Expedition out for a romp in the snow.

The people who live back east or in the midwest are probably laughing at our foot of snow but for us it's quite a bit :).

Awesome snow for sure! Take your time since we have ice under the snow. Yep, people back east definately should laugh at us for schools cancelled for 1/4 inch of snow, or just the probability of it!

Not laughing too hard, 3-14" expected for my area on the way. I remember in '68, we were building igloos with 18" overnight snow. At least at my house we have plenty of goods, gas and big generator hooked up and waiting. Electric crews are working 16 hour shifts to repair what 1/4-1/2" ice has damaged. Trees will on the ground. Chainsaws are ready at this house both gas and battery powered. Gotta wax down my boots tonight.
Love the snow, like the blood of Jesus, covers all the garbage cans in our lives.

Just don't be over confident. We all learn sooner or later that 4 x 4's can go great in the snow but stopping and sliding is another story.

we had about six inches of snow over the weekend and I decided to take my 02 out for a stroll and I went to work in the snow Friday, the old truck did AWESOME!!! it didn't slip, or spin and I was driving 25 mph which is a safe speed for me and I had to give credit to my NITTO TERRA GRAPPLER G2 TIRES they were also awesome and I had a Hyundai Sonata pass me in the snow going down hill and he learned the hard way he went over a embankment.

We're pushing about 10" right now and snow hasn't stopped. I'm tempted to go out and play. It's like a ghost town on traffic cams. I don't think I've seen a single vehicle move on my road in the past 5 hours.

We were supposed to get 18” here, so far only an inch and it seems to be slowing down. These Buffalo weatherman have always been on crack lol. In all seriousness I think it’s just too hard to predict weather with the Great Lakes. Water moves the fronts around.

Remember it doesnt matter if you have 2WD or 4WD. Doesnt matter if you are one of those misfits with 3WD or 1WD. ALL Vehicles have 4 wheel STOP! They stop just like any other!!

Can’t believe nobody has reminded people that 4wd doesn’t help you stop better!

My son got his first 4x4 years ago as a kid and was amazed how good it went in snow. I reminded him when he got stuck it was 4 times as bad. He found out!!!

Tires can make all the difference in the world. And chains make even more/better for snow/ice. Then there is the effects of the car/truck power/torque to drive wheel weight and the driver, too.

I've been places in a Chevy Vega (2.3, 1 barrel carb, 4 spd. manual, with chains on it) that 4WD trucks had to be 4WD to go.

I've been places in a Pontiac Astre (Pontiac Vega with a 2.3, 2 barrel carb, 5 spd. with a good set of Sears XST snow tires) that all manner of trucks, busses, cars, etc. couldn't go. Came across Rt. 60 in WV one night in a heck of a snow storm. Got home, father-in-law wanted to know how we got home. I told him Rt. 60, like always. He told me the WV State Police had Rt. 60 closed due to the snow/ice/accidents, etc. I told him they must have closed in from the phone in their barracks because we didn't see a single Trooper during our trip. Lots of cars/trucks and a Greyhound bus up against the guard rails, in the ditch, sitting in the road unable to get farther, but no State Troopers.

I drove around in the snow for with 2WD cars (1 wheel most of the time as none had posi traction rears) for 12 years before I ever got a 4WD SUV. Now I've got four either 4WD or AWD vehicles and three of them have never been in the snow with me driving them. Just the old truck that still goes home in the winter time snow/ice and salt.

My dad lived/drove 2WD vehicle in MI, ND, IL, WV winters for 20 years before he got a 4WD truck. After that first one, he had several more. I guess he figured moving the lever was quicker, easier than putting on a set of chains.
