Have seen several reviews of the limited on youtube about the 2015-2017 having acoustic glass and added sound deadening. Was wondering if this also applied to the XLT's? Assuming it does, but haven't been able to find answer. Thx in advance

Acoustic windshield is standard since 2006 Model Year on all trims. As far as sound deadening I'm not sure, Im not aware of any differences. I know ford claimed they used sound resistant body panels on the expy.

I ordered and purchased a 2015 Expedition Limited 4x4.

The Ford literature that I read said the Limited package added the SoundScreen windshield, and front side window glass. The XLT did not have it. The SoundScreen name is printed on the windshield.

The literature I read said additional foam insulation was added to hollow cavity’s and additional insulation was added inside the front seat center console beginning with the 2015 model year.

XLTs do recieve the sound screen windshield your info is incorrect there. Idk about the foam though.

I think I remember also that the literature said additional (or better) acoustical treatment was added inside the door panels.

I looked at my 2015 Limited and the side (front only) have the Sound Screen window glass marked.

The wheel-well liners are now made of a fabric-type material, as is my 2014 Impala 2LTZ. I do not know if Expeditions prior to 2015 had that type of wheel-well liners.

If you are looking at all the factors on noise another thing to remember is interior materials, a cloth interior will generally be quieter than a leather interior. Everyone has their own preference when it comes to that though.

XLT and Limited share the same sound deadening qualities - same glass and soundproofing body inserts, which were augmented slightly in 2015.

The Lincoln Navigator will have much better sound proofing. The Lincoln "ride" is known for being quiet and smooth.

When I was shopping for a new truck, I drove a 2015 Navigator for the first time. I didn't think it was any quieter than an Expedition (and I drove XLT, Limited, and Platinum models to compare). I was surprised though at how much more quiet the 2015-17 models seemed compared with my old 2009 XLT.

PS The "Lincoln ride" probably refers to the CCD suspension option. It wasn't standard -- even on Navigators -- as it only came on trucks equipped with 22-inch wheels. It does make a pretty big difference in ride quality though. I imagine it would be even smoother if it were paired with smaller diameter wheels.

Lincoln Navigator is definitely quieter, you lower a window and suddenly you hear stuff

Then again, my "XLT" is an SSV

You can compare the sound insulation part numbers on a Ford/Lincoln parts site like Tascaparts. You'll find them to be the same or mostly the same. There are subtle differences, like the carpet on the Lincoln which is thicker.

My 2016 XLT has the Soundscreen windshield. Overall the vehicle is surprising quiet for its size when inside. Now outside I have noticed a difference once the thermometer outside crept about 90°F there are fans that come on in the engine, and it gets louder when A/C is turned on. Just idling it reminds me of when I volunteered at an Air Show on the flight line.

I had a 2017 Rental Navigator last week (base select as far as I can tell, 4wd w/ 20 inch wheels). It had the option to adjust between 'comfort', 'normal ' and 'sport' settings. I assumed this was the CCD suspension, no? For what its worth, there was little discernible change in ride quality between Comfort and Sport settings on some cobblestone streets we encountered (didn't play with it much otherwise, leaving it in Sport) ..

2017 Brochure lists CCD as an Option on the Select, standard on the Reserve. Appears that CCD is standard with the Control Trac 4wd though, if I am reading the brochure correctly. So you should be able to get it on the Select, with 20 inch wheels..

Yes, CCD availability gets confusing on the 2015-17 Navigator. I looked at quite a few of them trying to figure out whether they had it or not. Unlike the Expedition, the CCD on the Navigator isn't strictly attached to the 22-inch wheels. I discovered it *was* possible to get such a Navigator with CCD and 20-inch wheels! While trucks equipped like this were not common, they could be found. Yes, CCD was standard on 4WD models. But, if the self-leveling suspension option was selected, CCD was deleted as they were not compatible.
