Yet another, but different, bubbling paint question

I agree with Jim. Any body shop worth a salt should be able to prep and paint aluminum. If the paint comes off, the aluminum shouldn't corrode significantly. You just have to live with the missing paint!

    Wheel Options and Questions

TPMS can be moved between wheels without a problem, or if you order wheels and tires, new sensors can come pre-installed (less than $200). New TPMS sensors would have to be programmed with the vehicle after installation, so there may be some cost there. Most tire shops should be able to do...

    trouble signing in

I have seen the same thing - main page doesn't ever show that I am logged in, but if I go into a forum, it remembers me. FYI - I am using Chrome on a WinXP SP2 machine.

    multiple random misfire

A quart of oil every 800 miles? That sounds like the problem to me. If you can stop the oil issue, my guess is that the hesitation and mis-fire go away too (after you change all the O2 sensors again probably).

    Performance Question

According to the Ford website, all EL's come with the 3.73 rear end. A 3.31 would certainly improve off the line acceleration! The only reason I can figure that the EL has a different rear end is highway fuel economy - the taller rear end yields lower RPM's which help offset the extra weight.

    Performance Question

I find that the EL's feel a good bit slower. Also, the brakes feel weaker. Admittedly, I am not sure how much of it is actual performance difference and how much just feel, but they do leave some to be desired in terms of performance.

2008 Limited - keep / get new one?

I agree to keep it. We have driven our previous ones close to 100K with little to nothing more than normal maintenance (tires, shocks, batteries, oil changes). The only exception to this may be our current one because I wrecked it and it hasn't ever driven the same since.

    FYI - 2015 Ford Expedition to get 5.0 liter 32-valve Ti-VCT V-8

Several European car companies are working on them, although mostly smaller cars (Jetta, Passat sized). They do get remarkable fuel economy this way. Note that in the US, diesel still isn't considered a worthwhile option for most vehicles for two reasons. First, people remember the diesel...

    Back Up Sensor

What year(s) are your Expeditions? If the sensor heads are visible, then you can easily check the alignment. Some years had hidden sensor heads (behind the bumper cover; no holes), and for these you have to crawl under the vehicle to see the sensors. But either way, a quick alignment check on...

    FYI - 2015 Ford Expedition to get 5.0 liter 32-valve Ti-VCT V-8

EcoBoost in the Navigator? Seems like that could hurt sales, not help them! Personally, I would think that the EcoBoost would sell better in the Expedition. But then again, everyone I know with the EcoBoost in an F150 wishes they had gotten the V8!

    Engine/drivetrain Flutter as highway Speeds

So, you may recall that I nearly totalled my Expedition this past summer. I took out all the front bodywork, front passenger lower A-arm, rear passenger trailing arm, and scraped up a bunch of the undercarriage. Now I am getting a flutter type sound when cruising at highway speeds. My first...

what can you do with Sync ?

Yep. I agree with the others. Sync in the Expedition is at least one generation behind the other Ford products. Just controls Audio, phone, and Nav (if included). And the voice recognition is only so-so. Usually it understands what I say (except for my last name, which is a pain when trying...

    photobucket

Gimp is another good photo editing software, but it is a little complex (essentially an open-source competitor to Photoshop), and the documentation stinks. But once you figure it out, you can do a ton of stuff!

    Hauling a U-Haul 6x12 trailer

I've towed these before with my Expeditions, and never had an issue. It's pretty smooth sailing. Note that some older U-Haul trailers don't have standard wiring and you may have to buy an adapter. It's not expensive, and the rental location should have them. Also, if you don't have the 4 pin...
