Damn. Good thing we have capable vehicles. I thought I could finally escape the potholes...Calling DTLA "paved" suggests you've never been...
It WAS paved, sometime around when Eisenhower was President....

The pumpkin is lowest point. In deep snow, it leaves a mark. In 2003 Ford switched to controversial, Independent rear end setup. That is why, you see similar ground clearance. I was referring to body height. Bottom of door to ground, top of tire to fender. The original UN93 body shared F150 parts. It was more truck like. In 2003, designers lowered the body. The main reason, was to accommodate, short, women drivers and children. The hope was to sell more, but sales dropped. People that love and drove the 1st gen, preferred the original setup, including women. The 2018 is proof, Ford has further departed from the original design.I thought 1st gens actually had the lowest ground clearance thanks to the live axle hanging out back

How do you find these former US highways on a map? I'd love to go check one of those out. Also, are you in downtown (with the skyscrapers) or just in the LA county? It's huge!Nope.
I went offroad and on a "former US highway" (trapezoidal gravel thingie) in the Kentucky Bend (population 18, ten or so of whom were encountered on the riverbank with beers boats on trailers and a few thousand shotgun shells) jn a frikkin rental Altima that was beat to hell a couple years back...and that was a LOT smoother and easier to navigate than Downtown Los Angeles lol
Well except that time I almost sank the Altima in some Mississippi mud.... no mud here, too dry lol

Ford is going to offer a 2018 Expedition FX4. It is for the 10% of buyers who, actually drive it like a truck. The Super Duty doesn't have the "knob" shift selector, built in wifi, 10 USB ports and flat screen in back of seats. The reason towing payload is up, is from lighter aluminum body and 6 cyl engine. They simply added the weight savings to towing capacity."Truck Like" is a very loose term... it could be argued the 3rd gen is the most Truck like to date. I mean it shares the Super Dutys interior (These don't have a F150 interior it's actually the Super Duty interior). They have the Highest towing and payload capacity of them all to date and the 5.4 Triton/3.5 Ecoboost with the 6 speed found in the F150. GM has used front independent suspensions in their trucks for years doesn't mean it's not a truck.

I love the extra get up a go from a stand still and it gave me better gas mileage until I put on bigger tires. You will also need to get a device that will change your truck's computer so your speedometer will read the correct speed. How do you like those gears? I've really been considering those. Did it change your mileage?
