What is your year and mileage?

Your problem may stem from a failing ps pump, steering head or contaminated (dirty) ps fluid or loose serp belt. Try the poor mans repair first, check the belt and change the fluid.

Is the pump making the "normal with age" Ford squeal?

ill swap out the fluid. belt is good and tight, but does squeel when shifting gears. maybe i'll just replace it. 240000km

If it doesn't have a zerk fitting your off the hook. If it does and you haven't been greasing it....NO SOUP FOR YOU!!!

Thats the cause of the problem I'm sure. lack of grease causing failure. Couldnt even see the grease fittings, skid plate looked like it had never been off too!
