Just for closure, it was the starter motor at fault. New one has been installed and the V8 is alive once more :Rock on:

Agreed.

Searching "PATS" lists many threads with conditions similar to those described by the OP. Solutions that are found there (PATS related or otherwise) might help steer the guy to a fix. Worth a look.

But for future reference, when I put my lightning cluster in to look at it, I tried starting it. It turns over, just doesn't actually fire.
