Hey guys,
I have an exhaust question.

I removed the muffler on my 03 and it's just running open Y-Pipe right now.

It's pretty mean, but I want it to be a little louder,

If I were to put a turn-down on it, would it be louder?

Where are you considering putting the turn down?

Seen mustangs do this right after muffler underneath the car and it made it deeper and louder but not recommended at all for street driven vehicle. Will have co2 issues inside passenger compartment.

Doubt it will make much of difference at the end of exhaust. May make it sound deeper!?

Right after the merge on the y pipe. Which is a little past the passenger seat.

I know about co2 issues, I haven't had any issue with it yet and I've ran it like this for months.

and I was asking if it'll make it louder/deeper..Maybe it's worth a shot, unless someone else has any input.

I would test co levels in the vehicle with tester to be safe. You may not smell it.. Would still highly recommend against it but yes I believe it would be deeper and louder.

Something you may want to consider.... There is lots on nasty crap in exhast gas. You said you are not noticing any thing in the cab for now, but it won't be long and all that gas will be eating away at the underside of your expy. I've seen trucks running an open y, or even just nothing behind the muffler and most of them have holes rotted through the bed from prolonged running like that. Just some food for thought. However, if you are looking for the loudest narliest exhaust, start at the front. Headers with no cats flowing through an open chamber muffler (basically a big open box to build volume and resonance) and run a tail pipe out where ever you want. I can't think of any other way to get any louder than that.
