Hey guys,

I have a 98 Eddie Bauer 4 wheel dirve with 5.4. I had all 4 air bags removed and installed the monroe kit. I had posted how now the back sits a good deal higher then the front, maybe 4 inches. I will post some pictures later.

I have read about the torsion bar twist. I have also read if you do this, you can cause the tires to wear out faster? Is this true, also will the truck ride ok after the twist?

My big question is what is better for the truck. Do I crank the front all the way up as high as it goes, (I feel the back will still be higher) or do I crank up the front some and drop the back to level it ouit?

Which is the best way to gp? Is it best to try to drop the front all the way down to match the rear? A little of each?

I am concerned that if I raise the front up as high as it goes, then drop the rear some to level, the truck will not ride correctly.

Thanks again guys.

Brian

Now I am thinking you can only raise the front, not the back. Correct? So I guess if that is the case, what options do I have. Raise the front a few inches, I heard too high is not good, can wear out certain parts, is this correct?

Thanks.

@brillis, one thing with doing the torsion twist is that I have heard the airbag suspension tbars were of a lesser strength than the normal tbars were. It might be a good idea to install the correct tbars from a 4x4 without airbags. I do not know what the part number for that would be though. I also do not have airbags and am just trying to help you based on what I have read.

If you do the torsion twist, the truck will ride a little rougher, but i don't think it will be too noticeable. Also I would get an alignment after just to be safe with the tire wear. Only way to drop the back that i am aware of is to cut one coil out of the spring, which I would not recommend doing. With a normal torsion twist you can gain about 2 inches in height.
