Question? Can I xhange the pump without changing the whole assembly?

Your best bet is to drop the tank and replace the entire assembly with a Motorcraft unit. RockAuto has good prices on them. If you bought the Airtrex from Napa or Autozone, get a refund.

How do you figure a bad CPS? If it was a bad crankshaft position sensor it would likely not run at all. It if was marginal, it might break up only at high RPM, or only break up on acceleration, I would not expect it to run smooth at any speed. It also would be throwing misfire codes.

Just saying, I could be wrong, but what is the reasoning for the CPS?

Your friends scanner should show the output of the tps and the crank sensor. If they are within specified range then your throwing money away while throwing parts at the problem.
All the CPS's that have failed in our shop have resulted in "no start conditions". How did you and your mechanic friends come to the conclusion that it is the culprit?

If your old enough to remember Dragnet this will make sense. "Just the facts ma'am"

Get you facts in order before proceeding - go back to square one and look at everything again.

Can you get it to stall while in park?

No cant do it in park, We did just hook the scanner up and record while driving. I got it to stall and it threw a code on the scanner not the ses light. The code was for the FREAKING EGR VALVE hahaha one of the few things we have not changed yet. I sware if all of this was the freaking egr valve well ill be happy but angry!!

The upside is that i have changed just about everything so should be good for a while once i get it fixed!!

One more thing, i read that flashing the cpu helps some vehicles... would anyone recommend that?>

I just thought my wife's trailblazer was bad!! this thing is giving mew a run for my money! If all of this was done a shop id be broke!! thank god for you guys and my mechanic friends!!!
All of you on here have been alot of help!! thanks so much!!

Forgive me as I was too lazy to read all the posts up to this point. Have you tried checking fuel pressure at the rails? You can rent a fuel pressure tester for free (pay a collateral fee and then they give it back when the tool comes back) at autozone and o'reilly I believe.

One of the fewest fixes I have read to remedy bad running problems have been flashing the PCM and changing the CPS. I am not saying that they for sure aren't the problem, but I would recheck my steps before doing that. Do you have spark on all 8 cylinders? Also are all of the COP's original?

I just bought 8 new msd coil packs the other day online, wanted to get them anyway. Havent checked the fuel psi but ill put that on the list dor sure. Sparks at all 8 yes. Thanks!

But the big thing that we did tonight was driving with the scanner, got itnto act up and it said the egr valve so fonna tackle that tomorrow!

1 more quearion guys, I went to change the egr an the part it bolts to I thought was the upper intake but bo part stores can find this peice. Its the aluminum neck that the throttle body mounts to, egr and the iac. Anyone know what its called or where I can get it?

Gotta chamge it cause 1 of the bolts is fused into that peice an cant get it out without breaking ir!

Use PB Blaster and let it soak over night. Hit it with an impact wrench - one of the 1/4" battery portables and they will usually break loose. Haven't had any bolts snap off yet using that method.
