Ok so first off you guys have been a great help an ive never posted anything haha. But I have a problem!

Recently my ex was running horrible dieing on me and running like crap, got on here an narrowed it down to my fuel pump. Swapped that baby out and while at it changed my plugs, oil, air filter... xomplete tune up. And drove great for about 2 months, then astarted stalling out on me when I would accelerate. Got on this awesome place for info an found a few things. So I found that elbow behind the iac had a leak. It came with a bunch of other vacuum lines on it soni changed them all and changed the iac while it was off. And it continued, so got on here again an saw a few more things it could be, so I cleaned the throttle body and the mass airflow deal. StILL doing it, so now I'm back I have run out of things to change.

I have read that maybe the fuel reg.? Or I didnt change any coils out and I didnt take the throttle body complely off just kinna sparyed an cleaned the front of it. Uhmmm I did unplug the egr valve an drove it cause someone told ne that if the egr was the issue it wouldn't do it if unplugged. ..not sure how true that was, so im asking you guys cause it seems you help everyone fix their problems an I must say do a very good job!

So if I have missed something or you know something more I can do PLEASE PLEASE let menin on it!

Oh and im not getting a ses light so no codes to make it easy! And I typed this all on my phone so please excuse any crazy typos! Thanks in adavance!

1999 Expedition 5.4 2wd 180k miles

Thanks again!

I am going to think a little outside the box on this one.. The intake side all seems to be kosher, what about the exhaust? Cat's still flowing properly?

Did you get a check engine light when you unplugged the EGR? That would have surely thrown a code, so if you did not, the light may be burned out... Mine is.

Thanks for the replies guys!

Yes we did change the fuel filter & yes the ses light cane on when the egr was unplugged, after it was plugged back in the light went off after the comouter cycled

And I am not sure about the exhaust, I have never done anything to it. However I was thinking about putting a full exhaust system on it.

Thanks guys.

I shoukd also add that 75% of the time it drives really well, but every now an then from a stop or at a roll when the gas is pushed the rpms drop and sometimes dies completely. It auxks!

if you do a new exhaust, that would be a perfect time for a new set of O2 sensors.
I know what you mean about the coff and almost die. Mine did that the other day for the very first time.... :wtf2:

Tonight im gonna remove the throttle body and make sure its clean and aldoclean the maf again. And then pull a vacuum and test the egr properly. Other than that I am out of ideas, unless any of you nice guys can think of something. Maybe the fuel reg? But woukd think it woukd run worse than it is if that were the issue....

I'd hook up decent code reader that can take a snapshot and record what is happening. Then you have an area to start in. You can have intermittent failures that don't throw a code since they don't last long enough.

Or you can throw parts at it until you get it or run out of money and/or patience.

You may have a faulty TPS. Youtube has several vids on how to test, very simple on a ford

If you suspect the tps, connect up your friends scanner and watch the reading change for that sensor as you press on the pedal. You would look for voltages out of range, no voltage or a dead spot that will either drop off or stay flat for that section.

I just got back home from offshore, totally removed an xleaned throttle body, seafoamed it and cleaned maf. And STILL doing it! Whats the best gas to use to set it on fire with? Unleaded? Hahaha

I guess I can check this throttle thing out now.

Kerosene would probably work best haha.

Just want to ask a simple question that I might have missed the answer to earlier in the thread, but what brand fuel pump did you use? When mine died, I went through 3 Airtex pumps that all did what you're describing. If I tried to accelerate from a rolling stop, my truck would fall flat on its face. I eventually went back to a Motorcraft pump ($$$) and that fixed the problem.
