Hello! Just bought a 2013 Expedition Limited and I have a question. I bought it from a local Ford dealer. It is a Certified Used Car and I have the service records. It was sold new by a different local dealer. The vehicle obviously has a KN CAI system. It also has at least an aftermarket chrome exhaust tip, maybe more. That's what I'm trying to find out. The exhaust has a very mellow rumble, nothing obnoxious. I can't tell if its factory or not. The records indicated that the original selling dealer replaced the air filter and exhaust prior to delivery. I called them and their records only show that the parts were supplied by the owner. Does anyone recognize this exhaust system? Is it OEM or aftermarket?

muffler looks like some brand of a turbo muffler. do you have an inspection mirror to see if there is a name on the other side of the muffler?

I checked, no markings on top. Good idea though. Honestly it looks totally generic and OEM to me. Maybe someone could look at the bottom of their muffler and see if it matches mine? Love the truck though. Wish it were mine but it's my wife's. She deserves it after driving the ole Excursion for so many years. It was really showing its age and developing little problems. It has every option including DVD and auto leveling suspension. Been waiting for the perfect one to show up locally, Black, SWB, second row captains chairs and loaded. Would have preferred a 3.73 rear end but those are rare. No biggie. It has a couple of mild mods, namely the CAI and tinted front windows, possibly the exhaust of course. Still trying to figure out how everything works. I've been lurking here a couple months while I was researching. I love to learn from those who have walked before me! Here's some pics.

I have a 2003 Eddy Bauer... My exhaust pipe is rust free.. Ford has either stainless or aluminized pipes in all their cars and trucks. I have two Crown Vic's, Fusion, Freestar all with original pipes. Two if those are over ten years old also. No, or little rust.

I mention this because the picture of the rear pipe you have shows excessive rust, IMO. So, indicates a lower cost aftermarket customer shop pipe or pre-made steel replacement pipe.

The muffler is definitely aftermarket. The factory is huge and round shaped. I replaced mine with a magnapack. Sounds amazing and it's stainless steel. The factory exhaust is stainless on these things.

Seems you're happy with the sound, I'd say enjoy it and if rust does become an issue just have it redone in stainless.

Thanks Rocky. I do like the sound. Its just a touch above stock, barely noticeable. When you punch it it's hard to tell whether you are hearing the exhaust or the K&N CAI. I do wish the tail pipe wasn't rusting, I may address that in the future. I know the tip is a Magnaflow. I can't matchup the numbers on the exhaust with anything from their website but it might be from their XL line.

"XL MUFFLERS
MagnaFlow XL Mufflers use an unique combination of large diameter perforated tubing and strategically placed sound baffles to reduce unwanted resonance and help your engine create horsepower.

The sound baffles tune the sound waves using calibrated tuning gate openings that allow portions of the waves to pass through. These tuned waves reflect off the back wall of the muffler and cancel out unwanted harsher sounds.

The large diameter perforated core eliminates the flow restrictions of a louvered style core. A careful balance between perforation size/spacing and the baffle tuning gate make for a great 3 chamber performance muffler."

I sent the picture to them so we'll see if they can confirm it.
