Mt son said he drove his vehicle to work and parked it. No noises or anything, just normal. He came out after work to start it and the engine doesn't spin. You can tell the starter is working fine because you can see the crankshaft try to turn but it is like the engine is seized. Trying to turn the engine clockwise does not work. Wanting to make sure it wasn't seized, I was able to turn it one complete revolution counter-clockwise. I actually went a little more, but I didn't want to do much more because I didn't know if it could cause a problem. Being able to do that I would think eliminates hydrostatic lock as the cause. Tried to start it again and still will not turn clockwise. Ideas? Or should I say constructive ideas? Hoping for something obvious I could be missing.

I'm going to assume you turned it at the harmonic balancer bolt. The valve train rotates at half the crank speed so first look would be under the valve covers and then timing chains. Sounds as though there is interference somewhere (rather obvious, I know).

You might try pulling sparkplugs and try turning it clockwise. If it's hydrolocked, it's going to come out the hole

I agree with this. That is my first place to start is make sure the thing isn't super flooded. Removing the spark plugs will also tell you if it really is seized or not since compression will be absent. Could have a broken timing chain or valve so be careful using the starter motor. Don't want to cause more damage than might already exist.

a/c pulley locked up

I had something similar happen after driving 1400 miles. Next morning got in and the truck made a small attempt at turning over. Took the serpetine belt off, turned the key and she started right up. My a/c pulley have seized. Easier to pull the belt than it is to pull the spark plugs.

Hope this helps

I had almost the exact thing happen in another vehicle, A/C compressor seized and I thought it was the engine.... was out of commission for a few weeks before I figured it out. Wasn't worth taking to a shop because I was pretty much broke :)
