2008 expy, regulator replaced (used), tracks lubed with silicone spray and lithium spray.

It had been slow, then for one night, screeching, and sluggish, today lubing really helped. Nice and smooth now.

Issue I am having now is during up OR down, it stops within a few inches, and requires 8-10 clicks to get it all the way up or down.

I have tried the resetting/initialization recipes out there, it is not working.

Is there something I can try out here? I just want this thing to work right. :-/

Please help. Thanks for taking a moment if you can to assist, here. I tried searching for hours for resolutions to like problems, but people who create threads (all over the net btw) don't return with what they did in the end... This won't be one of those threads, I promise. :-D

That is one of the most frustrating things about trying to help people with problems They want the help but have no idea how to give any feedback or even how to say thanks. And then they disappear until they need help again. And its like that on other forums as well.

The internet is supposed to offer a chance for the benefit of collective intelligence, leaving threads started to deal with issues open ended wastes everyone's time. I mean is it that difficult to return to the thread they started to post the eventual result?

The issue I'm having also is kinda difficult to yahoo or google search. There's a helpful facebook group for expy's, lots of chat about mudbogging and installing flood lights, but no one is responding to my queries there either.

I'm a member of the ford ranger forums, but new to owning this expy.

I know that this problem has been posted before on this forum. Try searching in the 3rd gen or elect sections Sorry that I can't offer any better help for you.
Hang in there I am sure others will respond

Searching and reading... I wonder if it could be a switch or some fuse or something? The motor "seems" like it's doing ok now, after lubing the tracks/wire.

So your one-touch express feature isn't working, correct? If you press and hold the switch, the window goes down 100%, and if you lift and hold the switch, the window goes up 100% ---- the issue only surrounds the one-touch feature, correct?

While most Ford's follow the same relearn/reinitialize procedures that are everywhere on the internet, the Expeditions have a unique step in that you must start the process with the front doors open.

See the .PDF in post #2 here:
http://www.expeditionforum.com/f40/window-auto-up-18501/

If you continue to read this thread, you will learn 2007 models had auto-down but not auto-up. What year was your used regulator off of?

Good luck.

The auto feature was indeed working (up and down) until I unhooked the motor, and hooked it back up. All issues pretty much happened in one day, Saturday. Once I unhooked it and cleaned the contacts, lubed the mechanisms and all, hooked it back up, now, auto works, but it only moves a couple of inches, and stops, takes hitting it about 8-10 times for it to go all the way up. Same with down, and it pretty much stops in the same place if I'm not mistaken.

Would unhooking the battery for about 10 mins help?
I did the re-initialize procedure, several times, it didn't help though.
Do both doors need to be open?

Thanks for your help my friend.

I will find and buy a manual, though, in what way is that applicable to properly diagnosing a window issue?

Have you followed the de-initialize instructions immediately followed by the re-initialize proceedure, to the letter ?

And just so I am clear, when you press and hold the switch either up or down, the window works 100%. I wouldn't replace the motor based on that, LOL.

The only issue here is express mode requires 8-10 taps.

Out of curiosity, does the obstacle detection work? Lower the window, hold the switch to raise and when its coming up hit the top edge of the glass with your other hand. The window should immediately stop.

When holding the button down, or just hitting it quickly, it stops, on it's own, it takes being tapped or held down, for it to go any further. It seems where it stops is the same each time. But yeah, it takes hitting it a total of 8-10 times to get it all the way closed or open. It is rather commanding in it's speed though. especially after lubing- maybe even faster than the other windows, it just stops on it's own after and inch or two.
I haven't tried obstacle detection yet...
I guess no matter what it does "work" I just want it to be back to normal.

I'll try the obstacle detection and re-and de-initialization procedures again tomorrow, and report back with what I find.
Thanks to all.

I did notice a little while ago, the up/down direction is opposite the other 3 windows for some odd reason?

I am still dealing with this issue btw, haven't had the time, resources, nor knowledge on how to deal with it. If anyone knows a solution drop a few lines here and spill it, I'll be thankful if you can easily deliver me. Thanks all, and happy hollydaze. :-D :Rock on:

Do you have a digital multimeter and know how to use it, also can you read and understand wiring diagrams?

Is it possible you reversed the polarity or installation of the switch somehow (when you said it goes different from the other three)? When I had my third gen I thought it was pressure sensitive for auto up down. Ie you push the switch halfway for manual up down or all the way for auto up down. Good luck with it!

I'm with ss pete, I also believe you need a new motor.

I had the same issue in another truck and a new motor solved the problem. Diagnoses for me was that after cleaning the tracks and no improvement on stopping short with the auto down feature the motor was just too tired to complete the cycle.

I'm not very fluent with either, :-(

This situation is quite odd.
Each increment is perfectly the same distance, each time.
Something tells me this is above my ability, mainly that I tried to buy a new motor and install it, 2 parts stores ( a napa and an advance, both) around here are giving me what looks like older kinds of motors, the one I need to replace it with has a long thin circuit board that goes down into the motor housing, the ones the stores are trying to sell me don't have that kind of setup, kind of an oval housing, it is slightly different looking.

I've got to make an appointment somewhere me thins, wish I could find someone who won't rip me off, but I dont think that's gonna happen.

LOL anyone on here (by a freak chance) in central va, and ant a shot at this?
