Door panel removal/courtesy light on mirror

:favorites37:THANKS CMAN1120,
I WAS ACTUALLY JUST TRYING TO FIND SOME GOOD INSTRUCTION ON DOOR PANEL REMOVAL, YOUR INSTRUCTIONS ON THAT PART WERE CRYSTAL CLEAR. EVEN THOUGH I HAVE YET TO PUT THEM INTO ACTION, I THINK I CAN...I THINK I CAN...LOL I DO HAVE ONE QUESTION ABOUT THE STOCK MIRRORS... MY COURTESY LIGHTBULB ON THE PASSENGER SIDE IS OUT. HOW DO YOU REPLACE IT? DOES THE PLASTIC LENSE JUST POP OFF SOMEHOW? MINE IS AN O3 EDDIE BAUER EXP.
THANKS FOR YOUR HELP...AND KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.

Does it have the turn signal as well or the courtesy light only? If it has the turn signal, grab one side of the mirror glass and pop it out, then you'll see a little tab at the bottom that releases the turn signal lens. Squeeze that and you'll see the location of the courtesy and turn signal bulbs

does anybody know what the part number would be for a replacement passenger mirror glass that is convex? I'm assuming the 2009+ f150 tow mirror glass is the same

Just wanted to add a little to this thread. If you have these mirrors and are interested in doing the puddle lamp conversion to LEDs, these puddle lamps are not the same as F150 tow mirrors and they do not use the same bulb. Instead of a festoon type bulb, it is a wedge. The link below is the bulbs I just purchased and they are the perfect size. any longer and they would not have fit. I am waiting for the lenses to finish gluing and then I can post a picture if anybody is interested. It is a great upgrade for just 5 bucks and they dim just like the standard ones did. Only word of caution is test them before you glue the lens back on since LEDs are not dual polarity. If one does not work, just flip it over and reinstall it. Hope this helps someone!

I want the F150 version with all features including power folding and the clearance and signal lights in them. There has got to be a way to make these work....

Put the mirrors on last night. Will take a little getting used to...
I'm being serious that I would give up the puddle light, blinker and maybe even power adjustment in exchange for power folding...

Anyone else realize you could see more out of your factory convex passenger mirror than out of this towing passenger mirror, it's a ** flat mirror!

I haven't done it yet, but I'm 90% sure you can get a convex mirror from an f150 and install it in there. I'll be trying it shortly. I hate that about mine too

Adjusted the power mirrors one time. Wife has rolled her window down and pulled her mirror in 5 times already.
If I don't figure out power fold, "these can go." (Her words) lol

Where can I find the parts breakdown for these and the 150 mirrors?

Replaced the right (passenger) mirror today with the OEM F-150 right heated mirror 7L3Z-17K707-C. $36 for the glass. It snaps in and fits almost exactly like the one I removed, Like always, the Chinese couldn't quite copy OEM "exactly", so the mirror is slightly twisted counter-clockwise.
I took the glass out again and removed some plastic allowing it to snap on straight. It is so tight that it won't rotate on its own. See the before and after trimming pics.
Also look at the pictures and see the view differences. I'd leave it crooked all day long compared to the flat mirror. Not copying exactly or improving on OEM was just plain stupid in my opinion.

Also, for your reading enjoyment...

Ordered left and right chrome caps. Doorman # 959-0018 and 19. Took the glass out again and unsnapped the cap clips with a flat screwdriver. They break easy.
Looking at the back of the covers, it's clear that the exact same tool molded these. Everything is the same from the parting lines and ejector pins to the gates and sprue. The part number is off by one, probably for the chrome vs. black. I would bet that doorman or their source makes the whole mirror.
I haven't decided if I'm going to take them back off and paint to match yet.

I love them for daily driving. I don’t even use the extending feature for mine. I didn’t even use them to pull my 20 trailer 1200 miles. Having them retracted does everything that I need them to, but I know the feature is there if I need it.

I just bought a pair of these from 1A Auto. I went ahead and ordered the convex passenger side glass too. Looking forward to installing these and new window regulators in my 2011 this weekend.

I got mine for my 2003 from AM auto parts for about $75 less than 1A auto, same manufacturer...

https://www.am-autoparts.com

I think they work perfect! Can even back into stalls in parking lots without having to look behind you... The convex mirrors are awesome!

Don't forget to use the factory nuts to mount them...
