Need some help guys.
Blew a brake line, installed the new one today (main line that comes off the master cylinder) after I replaced it I have pressure in the pedal and need to move it out of driveway to bleed the brakes but it will not come out of park. What's the deal? There is pressure in the pedal but won't come out of park too much air in the system or What?

roll it slightly forward and backward a couple times... try to relieve the pressure on the transmission's parking sprag.

Drew is right but be careful if you are on an incline

at this point you have no brakes. If it starts rolling you wont be able to stop it so have a wheel chock ready

I would bleed it right where it is don't try driving it anywhere

Yeah I'm on a STEEP incline I'll try and bleed them where it's at and see if anything happens.

we're talking an inch....

get your chock ready.... leave it in park without the emergency brake set... put the chock between your foot and the tread side of the back wheel (either one), grab wheel/tire with both hands at seven and eight o'clock (if facing decline) or five and four (if decline is behind truck)... take the tension of the driveline by rolling it up hill ever so slightly through the magic of gears.... whallah- shove the chock under the tire with your foot.

I would just leave it in park until the brakes are bled. I am surprised it isn't up on jack stands anyway. You don't want it moving with you flat on your back underneath it trying to bleed it!

there is a switch... but most often it's the parking sprag. i wouldn't force it.

leave the truck in park... get a chock ready... grab the rear tire and rotate it uphill and shove the chock under it once it's been moved just a touch... taking tension off the sprag is less than an inch, and all will be normal afterward... on inclines (to include curbs if you stomp one) never let the transmission hold the weight... it crams that sprag in the gear to keep it from turning- always apply the parking brake when on an incline BEFORE you take your foot off the brake pedal and put it in park...

Took the tension off parking spring and same thing nothing. Thinking it's the brake light switch

chock the front wheels

get a floor jack and lift the rear axle off the ground by putting the jack under the pig. Just enough to get the tires off the ground

try it then

on that switch do the brake lights work? If so its aint the problem...

On my 97 once upon a time a wire broke in the harness under the left side of the dash. that told the truck the brakes were on. Hence it wouldnt come out of park unless i did it in neutral with the key on acc. Be careful on an incline in case im wrong. Awful pain in the rear to find and fix.

Try This:

Hit the brakes have someone look at the tail lights. No Brake lights equal bad brake switch. There is a metal contact inside the switch that breaks.

Easy fix about 5 - 10 minutes and $20 - $25 part.
  • Pull the harness
  • Pull the pin cover if there is one
  • Pull the pin
  • Slide it off
  • Don't lose the bushing if there is one
  • Reassemble.

Good Luck

I knew the brake light switch would not fix it

did you try jacking up the ass end like I suggested?
No but I did roll it forward to take the pressure off the parking pin
