If you’re talking about the rearmost can just before the chrome exhaust tip, then yes, I believe Jski did so he could reroute his exhaust out the side instead of the rear. He said it added a slight growl to the exhaust note.

No this is between the muffler and the catalytic converters on the downpipe it's pretty big right up underneath the passenger side you can't miss it. Ford actually offers a oem delete for the f150. I was wonder if any one has tried it out on the expys.

That one is the actual muffler, the real deal. you don't want to get rid of that. The little can out the back isn't the muffler.

Oh okay. I was looking around online and some of the F-150 forms were saying that the resonator doesn't do much besides restrict the turbo whistle and that's mainly what I'm going for. So I guess this little thing in the back here before the tailpipe is like a secondary Muffler that's kind of pointless?a7d6dc53975adbc1cff98b313aeec370.jpg

Resonators are small, here the little one is a resonator, the large rear one is the muffler. I'm a bit confused which one we are talking about.

A resonator is basically a round shaped mini muffler.

The most fwd one is a resonator. Straight through design. No restriction in exhaust but does a very good job at keeping things quiet.

In the Expedition, the little one at the rear of the truck is the resonator. We don’t have the round one up front. @J Ski removed the resonator on his (http://www.expeditionforum.com/threads/2016-side-exit-exhaust-rear-muffler-delete.34521/), and I replaced the muffler with a 3” Stainless Works straight-thru on mine, but left the resonator.

That looks like a Thrush "muffler" I found on the road and installed on my 67 chevy Van back in 1974. I believe I used a couple Utica Club beer cans & coathanger wire to mate it up.

Has any one done a resonator delete on the 3.5 ecoboost yet?

Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
Please be careful doing this. Everyone I’ve heard that’s done this says it makes the EB sound like a little Honda Civic. If you want whistle and a little growl, do what I did and take that fugly ass resonator off the back and dump it off the side behind the wheel

All I did was remove the old one and re route the pipe out the side. Check out the thread it’s titled 2016 rear muffler delete, I believe

Yeah I am well aware and that's the last thing I want I don't want to turn it into a rice pot. I saw your video on YouTube and I like the looks but did it bring out more turbo whistle it was hard to tell a difference when idling.

Yeah it did, definitely hear it when accelerating too. Ive also got a k&n intake system which makes the truck sound even better. Some people think air intakes are pointless but to each his own

Nice I am thinking of doing the k&n at some point in the future. I feel like it would open everything up.
