Here in Reno it’s about $100.00.

Below are links to two local Ford dealerships, one in Reno, the other Carson City

$39.99 "The Works" coupon and a $10 rebate by mail. You'll be out $29.99 plus tax. Print it out, they'll add upto 5 qts of correct synthetic blend oil, rotate tires, inspect brakes, top off fluids, test battery, look at hoses, etc. Of course they are going to try to sell you hundreds of dollars in repairs - they are commission based and that is their livelihood. Smile and say no thank you.

You're fine!!! Don't go and waste your money dumping perfectly good oil. There isn't that much difference between 0W & 5W. Oil may be cheap but don't be wasteful

These guys are making it sound like youre gonna hurt your motor. Run it as long as you want and switch back to 5W-20 next oil change

If he is fine why switch it back? that makes absolutely no sense

these engines can be finicky about the oil you run in them

I would change it then get on with my life

For peace of mind that's why. Screw the little guy on his shoulder, he's got you on here making him terrified he's gonna blow his engine

Running 0W in his truck isn't going to hurt it. He mentioned it gets pretty cold where he is at right now so the 0W is fine to run. The 0W is just a tad thinner so its better for cold start up. At operating temps both weights flow the exact same.

Robert Smith as I said before you're fine. But if its really bothering you then swap back to 5w-20 and move on

FWIW: I run 0-40 Mobile 1 syn in my SLK factory supercharged...it has 193K but it doesn't seem to know it.

I buy my 5-30(edit) Mobile 1 Syn for my truck at Walmart in DE since Kerry lives near "the border" and I buy 4 jugs at a time, saving 6%. Then I take my motorcraft/pur filter & oil to the local Grease & go and pay him 35 bucks so I don't have to put my truck on jack stands and dick with doors and drains and hot dirty oil....he wipes everything down nicely and hands me back my key....a perfect trade at my stage in life however in my 20's, you couldn't have paid ME to let someone touch my car or truck<LOL>!

I have always and still enjoy working on bikes....cars/trucks, just never have!

you need a sedative

Your first mistake is trying to determine someone's mood or tone through type. Arguing with you is damn near putting me to sleep so a sedative is the last thing I need

You need to stop spewing BS info to people. Its very obvious you don't know what youre talking about

If changing oil weight/brand causes damage to an engine, there would be millions of damaged engines running around blowing smoke. I'm in my late 50's, been driving since I was 15, been fixing cars since I could hold a wrench and today is the first day I have ever heard anyone say switching brands will damage your engine because of "galling".

I simply don't believe it.

My local Autozone has oil clearance sales, several times a year. I am talking about Mobil 1 at $1 a quart and $5 for a 5qt jug. A while back they had 0W30 Mobil 1. The jug said recommended for "fuel saving on" 5W30 and 10W30 engines. My 2000 XLT 4.6l says 5W30 recommended. I called the Mobil 1, 1-800 tech line and asked about it. He specifically told me, that 5W20 was recommended. Ford issued a TSB and tested engines with both oils and they worked fine on either. He explained that the oils 2nd number(20,30etc) is the oil's hot temp and are the same. Example: a 10W30, 0W30 5W30 and straight 30W are all the same in a hot engine. The first number(W= winter) is the oil wieght on cold start. 0W flows better than 5W when cold. With all that, I asked if him, if 0W30 would be OK. He said it would be exactly the same, just thinner at start up(which is better). He was amazed at the price I paid. I used it 3 oil changes now(0W30) and it ran great. My mileage did go up a bit. It did not burn any more than usual. Auto manufactures are switching to 0w20, for its fuel saving and cold start protection. I would leave that oil in your engine. Just check regularly and keep it topped off.

Man you guys are hostile. Time for a trip to oil school.

I'd like to see his Heinz ketchup demonstration again, only this time at temperatures your average Joe will be experiencing, and not just to illustrate to penguins what sort of performance they can expect during winter in Antarctica.

I get the point he's making, but the data is not applicable to 99.99999% of the driving public.

Jeez I was banned for 2 weeks for talking like @07xln

How am I talking? The guy is wrong I’ve proven him wrong time and time again yet he insist on arguing. If you’re gonna come on here and tell people switching from a 5w to an 0w is gonna hurt your motor then be prepared to have someone call you out on your bs.

If I remember correctly you and edizzle were acting like a couple of girls, calling each other names and cussing at each other and what not. That’s why you got banned. I’ve done nothing of the sort
