Help. Bought a brand new Expedition and cannot drive 30 minutes without the seat killing my back and leg. Does anyone else have this problem and is there a solution. Has this been a problem for others?

Probably federal regulation headrest screwing with posture.... fixes include bending them or installing backwards

I've had mine 3 weeks. Once I fiddled with the seat positions and the back support it feels pretty good.
Im sure I'll get used to it.

Yeah mess with the seat controls or have your back checked out

I had that problem with mine. It was making me sick to my stomach with a pain in my right side. Try putting the seat back up nearly straight, maybe 100 degrees, and raise the bottom so your hips are level with or higher than you knees. That immediately did the trick for me. I was at wits end, ready to sell the thing.

I am a 100% disabled veteran and I drive a 2017 Ford Expedition Limited. With the multiple positions available I do not have any problems with my back and knees. I guess the seats do not fit all. Sorry to hear about your problems.

Had the same problem with a 2008 Lincoln town car. It was so bad I had to visit my chiropractor every week. It was horrible for a new vehicle. Ironically I drove our 2001 town car that had a wonderful seat. Ford seems to cheat with quality as a model progresses. They try to make the seat thinner for cosmetics but ruin a great fitting seat. Personally the only way to fix your problem is see if dealer will install a different seat, maybe a premium model, or considering moving on to another vehicle.

You are right, Ford does "decontent" as a vehicle gets older, My 2002 Silver/silver Crown Vic Sport had beautiful conforming leather seats. The following several I had till they stopped production had non conforming leather, almost like belting, that was uncomfortable. Seems like the do the best the first year of release then start taking out nickels and dimes, which is the reverse of what they ought to be doing to keep an existing design possible!
As to the main topic, my 2017 Expedition Ltd. seats seem fine, leather perforated and conforms well, so far no problems for me.

Love the car, hate the seats. Ford must have the worst seats in the industry. Jeep Grand Cherokee seats are really comfy, at least the years that Mercedes was involved. Not sure about the Fiat Jeeps. Make sure you bend the head rests backwards. I removed mine, put them in a vise, and bent the prongs about 20 degrees. It was darn hard to do, even with a 3 foot cheater pipe.

I bought a new 2015 Expediton Limited 4x4 with the heated & cooled front seats. I’ve found them to be very comfortable. Ford replaced the driver seat bottom cushion twice under the new car warranty because the cover began to separate.

My question: For those that are complaining about the uncomfortable front seats - why did you buy the vehicle if the seats were so uncomfortable? Did you test drive the vehicle before purchase?

Ever spend all day in a vehicle?

That often changes first impressions

Man, I guess you are right. I was dumb. I just sat in a Moscorovski 2 seater 2 banger, and the seats were comfortable. I should have bought that, despite that it couldn't tow my tractor and doesn't have 4WD, or a dealership in this country for that matter. But the seats were comfy, and I liked the color!

I traded in a gmc truck with leather seats for the expedition and I did notice that the gmc seats were more comfortable. The expedition seats are not horrible either I have just seen better. My wife thinks it’s the other way around she thinks the expedition seats are more comfortable than the gmc. I guess it also depends on your body type.

Have a 16 platinum expedition and I’m not a fan of the seats
I’ll be driving 7 hours in it tomorrow

My Cadillac DTS has much more comfortable seats
Even enjoyed our Tahoe seats more
Now that I think about it, these are probably the least comfortable

The leather is nice

To each, his own. I broke T7 two and a half years ago and have 3 herniated discs at L1-L2. I find the driver's seat very comfortable, even driving MO to CT.

Unless she's near 6ft or taller, the headrests really don't much affect women

Ford is hit or miss with cloth seats, as well. These seats are OK for around town; however, any travel over 300 miles and we start to get pains that only old people should feel, as well as numbing in the lower extremities. They're cloth, which should be more comfortable, but seem to miss all the right places. My 2000 F250 Lariat had leather, and those were super comfy. I love the massaging seats in the new Fords, and am looking at upgrading to leather as well. Katzkin has a massaging option, along with heat and inserts that are supposed to improve comfort.

Eventually, when the kids are finally gone, we plan on either replacing it or getting a second one for travelling (Navi Reserve at this point) with all the bells and whistles, included factory massage. For now, we just have a few more years to deal with it, and the Katzkin option is much cheaper than buying another car.
