I have a used 2017 Expedition that we bought about 3 weeks ago. A few days ago, we started hearing 10 warning chirps every time we start the truck after it's been sitting for more than a few minutes. The chimes are different from any of the other chimes that we've heard. I've checked fluid levels, tires, codes and there are no issues that I can find. This is with the seatbelt on or off. I've looked up warning chirps on Ford vehicles, but can't find anything that explains 10 chirps. I've made a short video in which you can hear the chirps, and shared it here:

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That siren sound is nothing I’ve heard in any of my vehicles.

Why is your brake light staying on for so long? I don't think mine stays on for longer than a couple of seconds after start and then goes off.

That sounds like an aftermarket alarm to me. Same as 17Limited, neither mine nor my wife’s 15 make anything that sounds even remotely like that.
I’d look around to see if you can find an alarm module under the dash.

I'm with AllBoost on this. Thats got to be an aftermarket add on. The odd thing is that it didn't do it until sometime after you got it home, which sounds like a dead battery or something is looking for a FOB you didn't get from the previous owner.

In any case, I'd find it and google it to find out what it is. It might something cool. Or.....the battery on the NSA tracking device is dead....

Parking brake is on.

Some people actually do use it, you know.

How can you be sure it’s the parking brake and not some system fault...that’s why I asked the OP to be sure.

But maybe you know everything?

That's what I was wondering. Sounds almost like a "Low Altitude" siren or a radar detector wired inline.

So, the parking brake is on, hence the extended light. As for the aftermarket alarm, I will check, but the dealership said no, although I don't trust dealerships all that much. The car was a rental for the first year, so maybe something they installed. I'll take a look under the dash and see if I can find anything that doesn't look stock.

A review of post #4 in this thread will indicate I also nailed the source of the sound...

Apparently, I do know everything. Hahahahahaha!
