Looking to put winter tires on my expedition this winter. I don't want to spend too much money on something fancy so decided that steel rims would be the right choice.

I found a set of 17" steel rims on Tire Rack. Tire Rack seems to think they will fit but will they? I'm concerned they won't fit over the brake calipers more than lining up the bolts.

Site says the size is 17x7.5 with a 44 mm offset.

They should be fine as your spare is a 17” wheel though I am not sure on the backspacing of the factory spare.
Pull it down and measure the backspacing to be sure.

Wrong approach.

Steelie 17"s for police F150s and Expedition SSVs go for like $100 for the set on the used market, and are pretty close to indestructible.

Also guaranteed to fit right. And sometimes come with LT A/T tires that could do winter duty for a few bucks more

Thanks guys.

@Black - not terribly mechanically inclinded. How do you measure backspacing?
@Adieu - Good idea looking for a used set. Not sure of availability around here though.

Stock wheels from 17-22" are all 44mm offset so backspacing wont be an issue. Those should fit unless the inner wheel diameter is smaller and won't clear the caliper. Might be worth getting 18" steelies to give yourself a little space

Craigslist?

And don't you guys have more Ford trucks per capita than in the US?

Right but you never know what the inner diameter of an aftermarket wheel is going to be like. I've been in this situation first hand with my grand prix. Aftermarket 16" steelies wouldn't clear the caliper but oem stock steelies did (same offset). I was using them to put drag radials on when a used to take it to the drag strip.

Buying aftermarket steelies is sorta crazy.

SHIPPING alone would cost more than to purchase a set of steelies locally.

I don't want to spend too much money ....

I found a set of 17" steel rims on Tire Rack.

Tire Rack is showing the 17" steelies for $91.55 each, so nearly $400 for a set + shipping, that customs duty fee Canadians subject themselves to, Goods & Services tax, Provincial Sales tax, harmonized sales tax, etc.

Should be able to find a nice used/take-off set of aluminum F150 wheels & tires, with TPMS, with lugnuts, for the $500+ you are looking at spending on horrible looking steel wheels.
