Finally replaced my 2010! Welcome my 2015!

As it says, I welcomed into the family a new to me 2015 to replace my 2010 that was totaled by a big rig rear ending me. Ugh....please don't ask til it's over!

So...this one is a 2015 EL Limited. All the bells n whistles. The Ecoboost twin-turbo 6 is badass!!!!!! Manual shift mode on the tranny, trailer brakes, and as always, 4wd! From what I've been told (I gotta start reading a lot!) the towing capacity on this one is much greater. So much that I can tow a three-axle toy hauler. I like that idea. Had to go to PHX from SoCal to get it too.


I've been doing rideshare (Uber/Lyft) for three years in my 2010 and now I continue in my 2015.

This is my 3rd Expedition overall. My 1997 was retired after being rear-ended by a drunk. Nope...don't ask. LOL

Suffice to say, the previous ones saved my life and the lives of others.

A Ford guy too. I've got a fox body mustang for fun. I used to race 'em too. No more. But the room in this new Expy allows me to carry lots o big boy toys to all kinds o places.

The towing capacity is the same, no chassis changes. Both are rated to tow 9,000 LBS weight distributing. Congrats on the new truck!

Lyft and Uber hate Expeditions for some reason

Navigator Yukon Escalade get much higher paying vehicle classes (all classes Lyft if black exterior, XL Select Uber regular drivers / all classes if commercially insured TCP with "suv slot") , as do Suburban and even Tahoe for lyft (everywhere) and sometimes uber (depends on region and sometimes persistence in demanding you getting upgraded if they don't do it automatically)

I used to use the 2000 for Lyft and Uber up till about 2 years back. Unless I got a ride for Lyft plus, or got a prime time ride, it wasn't enough pay to be worth it. The gas, the maintenance, insurance, etc. On top of that the streets here in San Francisco are so flooded with vehicles now, you have to work your butt off to make a buck. I did it back in 2010 when Uber first launched here in San Francisco. It was very profitable then, you could easily make $300.00 plus on a Friday/Saturday nite. Now you got to struggle to make $100.00. I got out of ride sharing years back. Dealing with drunks ralfing in your clean Suv is not my idea of fun!

I ran Lyft LuxSUV to some awesome super-profitable rides briefly ($200-300-400 rides), then they mysteriously and wrongfully kicked me off saying some utter nonsense about me "sitting in one place for improbably long periods of time, leading them to suspect I was hacking their app with a GPS falsifier"

I've half a mind to sue their azzes, because that's a damn lie.

Adieu, I used to have a favorite park spot just outside our presidio ex military base. It was golden. Never heard of having a set spot that was off limits unless it's 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. I got a fat settlement check from Lyft last April. Driver's sue these 2 guys all the time. They make billions off us, and still want to cheat, screw them, they deserve to pay out, or play right, and quit profiting off driver's, and not pay what the driver's worth. Avg pay for any class b driver here in Bay area is $28.00 to $34.00 per hour driving a bus, Class A 18 wheelers $37.00 to $43.00 hr, working for someone with benefits. More with overtime. Avg is $90.000 per year.

It was airport queue bullsh!t.

They're like "how you spending 14 hours a day in line, that's not believable"... kinda missing the point that it's 50% sleep, 25% watch TV, 25% social frickin club tailgate style cuz everybody and their grandma is always there too.

And that kicking back waiting for fat hundreds to roll in beats the hell out of zipping around the urban jungle like a crazy cabbie on meth doing 5x the work for 1/5 the pay

That plus no desire to go home lol.


....SHOULDA been easy enough to explain, except I never did find a way to talk to a **** sapiens representative, except for a few who were like "uh i get that sir, but I'm not authorized to deal with this kinda situation".

I've been successful with it here in LA, can't speak to the experience of others. I know my areas, zones, times, events, etc and I also have a fair amount of private business, too. I make it work.


So...other than the great rideshare debate, has anyone noticed any unique issues? Like, mine, the 110V AC doesn't work consistently. And how do you lock out the rear audio controls? I can't seem to find the option/screen. If anyone has a recommendation for a reliable power inverter that they use in their similar Expy, lemme know. Mine keeps blowing the fuse blocks on the 12V cargo area power point.
