Hey folks i have owned my 97 EB for a year. I just got done replacing the factory exhaust manifolds with a set from pacesetter. Not too fun but hey its done. Once back I will be able to put the dynomax exhaust on and we shall see what is next. Im curious to know about lifts. This is my wifes vehicle and she does want it up high just not extreme. I live in NC around the outer banks and have already been out there once on the beach and did quite well. I just would like for her to do better. I do want to change all fluids from diff to tranny and so forth. So any help would be appreciated if there is other things yall can suggest as to do. Thanks a lot

cool. thank you. how do you do that? after looking around it seems some folks just do a leveling kit. can someone tell me how much height this can add? i used to have a ranger with ifs and a cheap trick was to crank the torsion bars but also i read that it could be detrimental to your tires. so i dont know about doing that but what is involved in the level kit? thanks a lot.

kwt2000 thanks a lot. I was wondering about a body lift. Do you have any problems with your tire wear due to cranking the torsion bars? That sounds good to me as I am not made of money. I would like to get a lift for a good price. How much did the level give you? The 2/3 means what? 2'' increase in the front and 3'' in the back? I believe that would be sufficient for going on the beach because im sure that 33s would give me some lift as well. I really appreciate the response i am just concerned about the torsion bar crank but if no one has problems with the tire wear than im game. With the body lift did you have to lengthen the steering shaft or brake lines or anything else? Sorry for a million questions.
Nice rig though btw. My uncle has an older kenworth thats black. Sweet ride. With pictures can you use what you have from facebook?

When you click to post look at the top. You will see a square box with a yellow background with mountains and what looks like a sun.

First you need to find a picture you like. Right click on it and click on properties. Copy the address (url) of the picture. Then click on the mountain looking box and paste in there and wala. Here try it with this pic

i don't have any funny tire wear the shop said it wasn't that far out once i got the lift on. as for the steering shaft the kit comes with the extension to make it easy. the body lift took me just about 2 days to do my self and the spacers and torsion twist took about 3 hours. i really got 2.75" of lift out of the front but it was very low to start with... all in all im in my lift rite at $500 then $1200 for wheels and tires.. the ride after the torsion twist didn't get any worse than stock but the 10ply tires did make a noticeable difference

must be because you dont see many nice explorers on the road any more. Especially one with flames. Pretty cool.

It was the inspiration for my Expy. Same amount of lift, same rims etc. Just the Explorer was a dog after the lift and tires. Was going to have to regear to get any power out of it, and the 4x4 shift motor was going. I ended up selling it to the mechanic at the Ford dealership in the City fo $1500. But it looked good. I really missed it till I started modding my expedition. 'Memories'

i'll chime in with the others cranking the TBs doesn't really affect tires just makes the ride a little stiffer... I have them cranked in my expy as well as my old 97 F150 that had 38s... I haven't used the new keys I just went and cranked the bars.... but then it's just a start then u add a body lift and then a suspension and it never ends.... well until the wife says no more!! :D:p...

i am running a 4" rancho lift on mine with 35's and i drive on the beach all the time. a body lift with some 33's would probably be just fine but trust me (and walnuts), you will want to go bigger. so it is better to just do it from the beginning. i would go with a 6" lift to start. just my opinion. im gettin rid of my 4" and gettin 6".

wow. les uk how do you get an expedition to england? are you military?

nvycrmn when do you think you will be getting rid of the 4''? I dont believe that I will go nuts with it. THats what my f150 is for. I do have young kids to consider and a mother in law. So I do think that I will have my own limit.

Thanks for the info on the tb's. I think that will be the first thing to start with. Im excited. Just have to wait to get back home.
